And I don't know how old you are, but growing up in Houston you obviously weren't inundated by Red Sox info on tv or in the papers at all times. You had to seek out the information you wanted about your favorite team. And yes, it's much easier to follow them in the last decade or so with the advancement of the internet and things like MLB Extra Innings and MLB.tv. But you still have to make the effort, instead of just arbitrarily growing up somewhere and having it force-fed to you by every local media outlet.
Very true, I did what I needed to do do see my Sox, but granted I just turned 24 yesterday, so my early years were tough to see them, but like you said the last decade has made it much easier..
It's not that I didn't get into the Astros. I follow them very closely as well, and want them to be successful, but I'll always root for the Sox first. Every year since interleague started, when the Sox were here in Houston, I was at the stadium decked out in Sox gear. Honestly, I think the whole t-shirt fan thing is over-exaggerated. If someone cares about a team and follows them closely and lives and breathes the team, why does it matter where they're from?
