WTF is up with the 3 pm start tomorrow?

Not sure which is worse? A wicked early start or the normal wicked late start.

Sox start the WS with the Vegas odds in their favor.

A $145 bet would net $100. Whereas a $100 dollar bet for the Cards would net $125.

At least the ratings will be helped. 2004 was Sox/Cards; 07 Sox; 06 had the Cards and 2011 had the Cards as well. The Yanks were in 09.

In the last 9 years if the Sox and/or Cards are in it, the ratings are 10 or greater.

Sox extend qualifying offers to Ellsbury, Drew and Napoli.

No way Ellsbury takes it. Drew certainly isn't worth 14 mil so he will. Napoli might just because it is a lot of money and a chance to repeat.

Salty got no offer.

my prediction is nobody will accept.

Ells - obvious

Drew - he won't be able to make any more money on a per year basis than the 1 year qualifying offer obviously. But Boras is going to treat this the same way he did with Adrian Beltre. Similarly to Beltre, drew was coming of an injury-riddled and unproductive season so a multi-year deal was not a feasible option. So he got a 1 year deal from boston to show he could come back and produce the way he had in his first few seasons. Boras knows SS is a premium position and that Drew is pretty much the best all around SS available in this year's FA class. He'll get a 3 or 4 year offer from somebody IMO for probly between $10MM-$12MM per

Napoli - Same with drew, he'll get a multi-year offer that won't exceed the 14.4MM qualifying offer. He took the 1 year deal after his multi-year deal fell through due to concerns over his hip. He proved that's not going to be an issue by meeting all of his playing time incentives. I think the Sox will have to give him at least 2 years (probly 3) to keep him.

I wish all 3 would accept their qualifying offers but that's a pipe dream. At least they'll get some good draft picks from the teams that sign them away. My order of most likely to return: Napoli, Ells, Drew

Here's the hypothetical 2014 regular lineup if they only bring back Napoli (certainly leaves something to be desired):

victorino - rf
pedey - 2b
papi - dh
napoli - 1b
middlebrooks - 3b
bogaerts - ss
gomes/nava - lf
ross/lavarnway - c
bradley jr. - cf

Man losing Ells to the mfy hurts. He's not worth the contract he got, and i didn't want the Sox to sign him back for anything over $100MM, but I was hoping he's at least do the right thing and get his money from any other team.

Grateful to him for the good years he gave the good guys, but now here's to you having a career ending injury Ells. Go **** yourself for signing with the devil
