Granted the mfy are sending out their scranton-wilkesbare AAAA lineup with all their players on the shelf, but I'll take it especially after starting the last 2 seasons 0-6.

Bradley and Iglesias have certainly sparked this team out of the gate and scoring 15 runs in 2 games without the benefit of a homer is encouraging news for the offense.

Won't be greedy and expect the sweep tonight, but hopefully Dempster pitches well and the hitters keep grinding out solid ABs

I guess that makes Chris Davis the rabid dog. But a win is a win.

Zobrist is off to a really good season so far. Longoria is doing okay at bat, but is doing great work at third. Jennings is getting on base, and is fitting in well in CF.

Just working out the kinks with the pitching.

Speaking of pitching, the Rays are sending Roberto Fausto Carmona Hernandez to the mound today. Why is that kind of remarkable?

He is the first free agent pitcher to start a game for Tampa in over 1200 games.

man that is an insane statistic, the job that scouting department and coaching staff have done with their home grown pitching prospects over the years is freaking impressive

Crush was great, but the bullpen can't do that when you got to Hellickson.

There's a few guys that came via trade obviously, Garza immediately comes to mind. But yeah, just another chapter from that same story of the last few years.

So what's that... 0-1 in one run games this season? Woohoo for regression!

didn't even think about garza being a trade guy, where'd he come from, the twins?

Regression from close to perfection is pretty much guaranteed though, right?

Workload from last year was always going to be a concern this season, but only if you believe that last year was less "a fluke" and more "a good bullpen".

DKM, yeah. Delmon Young and a couple of guys to the Twins for Garza/Bartlett/no names.

Sonny, I've never said the O's bullpen was bad and lucky, just not as good as a 75% success rate in one run games. I imagine they'll be at 60-65% this year, maybe a 20-10 record or thereabouts.

I never said you thought they were bad but I'm pretty sure you implied at one point they were pretty lucky.

Either way, yesterday is just one game, but it still bears watching. Their bullpen depth isn't real good.
LeonardSkinner

That's why we play 162.

I probably implied they weren't great but only partially to say they were actually "lucky;" the other half is just to mess with you

Like calling you "Sonny." If Baltimore makes the postseason, you're up to "Michael." If they win the Series, it'll be "Don Vito."

Of course, if they end up in the cellar, you're back to "Fredo."

I believe players received in trades to be basically equal to home grown guys, because you had to give up something of value (in most cases) to get them. They certainly shouldn't just be lumped in with FA signings where all you're doing is forking over some cash (and perhaps a draft pick if the FA is tied to compensation)

As for the O's record in 1-run games, there has to be some regression based simply on the fact that their record in 1-run games was historically good last year. Sure the bullpen played a big role in that but there was also a lot of timely hitting that probably shouldn't be counted on to repeat itself. The bullpen could be every good as it was last year and I still don't see them hitting that 29-9 mark again. Like AK said it probly comes back down to earth in the 18-22 win range (still good).

162 HR's for Crush this year.

It's basically a lock.

And would still be the Yankees second best player?

Pow.

Good God. Just stop pitching to him.

Davis through two and a half games: 3 HR, 11 RBI, plus a few doubles.

I do expect he'll regress and won't hit 162 home runs, but he's a no doubt lock for 712 RBI.

Not really, ak...it seems like a pretty subjective call based on where the ball is in play.

First time ive seen it called for sure.
LeonardSkinner
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Sigh... Can't blame that one on a weird call, though 2nd and 3rd, no out is worlds different than 3rd and one out.

Ran into a buzzsaw named Chris Davis this week.
LeonardSkinner

If that first base camera is the only view, then we'll never know.

The centerfield camera followed Longoria out of the box, and we never saw Zobrist in the same shot, even as he approached second base.
