I don't check this thread for a couple months until today, and the rangers are 4.5 games back and talking smack? This is fkn beautiful.

Stros win the division by 10 games. Any takers on that bet?

Well **** me I'll give you even money $100 on this as well

Aight. Bet.

Aggie 3 is going to be broke in a few months.
Glad I didn't take any of those bets. Especially after hearing our GM today.

Even Money: Astros win division. Ahead of the Rangers by at least 5. No requirement on the team that comes in 2nd.

$100

I'm game for that! So all I need to have happen to win said wager is y'all win the division but by less than 5 games?

About to be 9.5 games with Arlington's fearless leader admitting they're selling their best pitcher.
You're right......

.

And don't you forget it.

I came into the season expecting us to lose 100 games.

I'm just grateful that I got to watch almost 100 games of decent baseball.

I can't really say much other than that. You might as well worry about the Oakland A's now. They're your problem to deal with.

It would have been better to lose 100 games. JD is keeping y'all good enough to not rebuild, but not good enough to matter. This is the purgatory I have been telling y'all about the last few years. Mediocrity isn't being bad. It's this.

We still have a lot of pieces that we can trade for prospects. Should be an interesting trade deadline for both teams.

The Rangers front office has made the mistake of counting on some guys this year who are flat out terrible like odor, Mazara, our catching duo, and Guzman. We still brought in forsythe, Santana, pence, and Lynn this offseason so there's some measure of hope that they can identify talent.

Another week and I'm prolly going to just pay up both bets early but a bets a bet.

Do yall have any hope that your GM can actually make a trade that's brings back any talent?

After selling Darvish and Hamels did you even get anything back that's worth a shlt?

How do yall have any faith in Jon Daniels?

Willie Calhoun has been decent this year, but for some reason, he was sent down. Now is the time to play your young guys to figure out who they are and if they can help down the road.

I do have faith, but I am uneasy about this trade deadline. It's important that no matter what the front office decides to do that they get it right.

At the time, hamels was significantly older than since we initially traded for him, constantly complaining about the thought of a 6 man rotation, and pitching like horse manure. You're just not going to get a lot of great offers for a guy like that.

Darvish was having the worst year of his career after already having not 1 but several major surgeries.

When you trade a player, there are several things that you can't really control. How he's playing at the time, how the league perceives him at the time, and the market. All of those things went against us when we were moving those guys.

I was underwhelmed with the take we got, but sometimes your hands are tied. People would've laughed at us even more if they left in free agency and we got nothin.

Mike minor isn't comparable to the other 2, at least he's pitching like an ace this year.

Well sounds like your gm needs to be better at deciding when to trade guys

We used the farm over a 6-7 year period to trade for players who would help us contend. We were never really in sell mode during that time frame.

There was no realistic opportunity to trade hamels or Darvish before that time.

Both Hamels and Darvish were free agents after the end of the season, so if we didn't trade them, we would have gotten nothing for them. The timing did suck, but couldn't expect much more at the time.

Yours gripes about their own front office.
