tyler white has a higher WAR than Roughned Odor.

One guy was DFA as soon as injuries healed for others made it doable.

The other is a key building block for the future.

I'll let it be known that I never made any of the crazy bets that some of you guys are going to cash in on. I never thought this team was actually going to compete for the AL west. A wildcard looks to be out of the question too. My expectations when the season started was 100 losses.

The front office has made some questionable decisions lately. I admit to being concerned that they will screw up the trade deadline. There's a few guys we need to keep, several guys we should trade, and several guys we should bench or send to the minors. We definitely need to make wholesale changes tho.

You guys have a great team.... it should be between you guys, the Yankees, or the dodgers. Maybe the rays could possibly be dangerous in a 5 game series tho.

Daniels needs to flip Minor, Pence and Lynn. Realistically he won't get anything but a lottery ticket for Pence but every little bit helps. He needs to do something with Odor and Mazara. But going into the new stadium while doing a tear down is a tough pill to swallow. I guess the next 10 days will tell you how much of a GM you have.

We brought in some good veterans on the cheap.

The veterans carried this team. They're the only reason we have a winning record right now. Our young players , with the exception of gallo, have played like horse manure. You can't hope to win long term if only 5 of your hitters in the lineup have a pulse.

Probably the best course of action is to keep a few talented veterans who could be on the team 5 years from now ( Elvis and Santana), make a lot of trades, declare every game after August first a try out or audition. Give young guys from the farm a look and some of the guys we presumably acquire in trades.

Oh well.... in a few weeks we will all be on the same team rooting for the Aggies to stomp Texas State.

I have a 2/3 unsuited and you guys have a pair of aces right now. I'd look like a total idiot if I was trying to talk trash. There's nothing I can really say. You guys have a very talented team. Definitely could win it all.

Reality has set in. It's all about the trade deadline for us now.

If the shoe ( or silver boot!) was on the other foot and your team looked pathetic right now, I'd probably let up a little as well. At the end of the day, we're all on this site to cheer on Jimbo and that awesome team who plays at Kyle field.

Well that sucked. Props to the beer lady who let us sneak in at the wire and grab a couple drinks.

Saucer was cool. Had good beer and got a nice glass to boot.

Rangers in the drivers seat at the deadline as far as what to take. We'll see how it works out. Maybe Daniels will surprise me.

Why would the rangers "keep a few talented veterans" for 5 years? This is exactly the thing that has and will keep them middle of the pack for the foreseeable future. Trade them away now for young talent. How do you not see this? What's the point of having aging talent if you're not going to realistically contend for a playoff run in the near future?

That being said, I hope they continue to take the same approach.

Boot or no boot it's pretty important to win season series against almost everyone if you want to be in the playoffs. Being .500 or below isn't going to cut it.

As well as overall record between the two clubs...a common sip tactic.

If I were Daniels I would gut the team and start over. It took us 3 years before we saw results and the Mimic Maid Park will keep the Arlingtonians happy for at least two years before the new car smell wears off so likely just one year of unrest before the young talent starts to blossom.

Or just keep hovering at .500 for the foreseeable future.
