I really hope the Rangers can win the series against New York just to send the Ball Park in Arlington our the right way. I'll be happy for Air Conditioned baseball next year but got dammit beat the Yankees only team I hate more than houston
You really hate the Astros? Really? The only team worth hating is the effin' Dodgers. I don't even hate the damn Yankees.

The dodgers aren't worth hating at all. Rangers and Astros never play them but once every few years.

Unless you're taking a shot at the dodgers for political reasons....
You aren't an Astros fan and weren't around with us in the NL West. **** the Dodgers and Tommy Lasorda.

Their fans are also among the worst.
That's true. I forgot about your national league history, but weren't you guys still in the NL Central?

The Central wasn't created until like 1994. Before that it was the West and East, no wild card, no divisional series.
Guess I'm showing my age here.

Enjoy the AL west title. You and dodgers look like the best teams in the league by far.

Nothing like a Life Long Ranger fan with no sense of baseball history.

No worries. Would like to meet the Dodgers (or any NL Team again.

Going to be another stressful October/November. Good distraction from Aggie Football at least.

Can't stand the Cubs...those teams were full of a bunch of a-holes (kinda like the Dodgers now). Didn't care much for the Cards either but that was because they were usually so freaking good (I wonder how many doubles and triples Edmonds robbed us of over the years and of course Ausmus in the playoffs).

I'm not a fan of either team, but the history of the Cubs and the Cards is awesome (admit it or not), and playing them multiple times each year was great. I was lucky enough to be able to go watch the Astros in Wrigley our last year in the NL. Chicago is my favorite city that I've ever visited, and I would love an excuse to go there each year.

I'm all for MLB realignment. Colorado, Texas, Houston, KC and Chi Sox is a meh division but would be better than playing 30+ games with a 9:00 pm first pitch. I'm tired of losing to Oakland anyway.

Think about if that was the division this year.

W Sox 46-111
Royals 58-101
Rockies 68-90
Arlington 75-83

We'd win 120 games.

I enjoyed them as a kid, loved being lulled to sleep by Gene Elston and Larry Dierker on a summer night.

The old NL West was an odd alignment, two Eastern Time Zone teams (Reds, Braves), one Central ('Stros) and three Pacific (Giants, Friars and the effin' Dodgers)

Stuff cycles around, but yeah, this year that group was weak. Chi Sox have been primed for a break-through season for a few years now with their Top 5 farm system. But nothing has materialized into anything but losses.

This is the kind of weak BS Arlington has to resort to for a tiny 200k. Meanwhile Daddy have one crushing 300 and another that might get there too.

To be fair, the Sox were being dbags and intentionally swinging at pitches not to strike out earlier in the game. I think Minor was at 199 in the 8th and Sox, while down only two runs, purposely caused a 3 pitch inning by swinging to ground out at the first pitches they saw.
jkag89

Well according to one Ranger fan on their thread, this was a perfectly OK response to the BoSox "deliberately" getting themselves out in the 8th inning in an attempt to prevent Minor from achieving the 200K mark,

The object of the games is to get outs, most would be happy if it only took three pitches to retire the side.

Most of the time I would 100% agree, and I'm not defending giving away an out like that, but in game 159 between two teams not making the plays offs, I thought it was bush by Sox to purposely try and prevent Minor from getting 200. Especially considering his history (almost retired in 2016 due to injuries). He had a hell of a year and 200 is a career milestone for him.

Calling their attempts "swings" is generous. It was very obvious what they were doing...

I've been reading these trash talking threads for the last few years. I'm curious, as the Rangers fans are the self-appointed arbiters of the "right" way to do things in baseball...was that the "right" way to get 200 Ks?

Someone actually thinks the Red Sox cared enough about Minor getting to 200 strikeouts that they intentionally tried NOT to strike out?

Like, seriously, this is a rational thought?!

300 K's? Oh wait, no, it's only 200? Stop the darn presses- 200 mighty strikeouts that would rewrite not a single flipping record book?!

Seriously, 200 K's is some badge of shame worthy of tanking your batting average to avoid?! Oh, the ignominy!!!! The humanity!!!!

Give me a freaking break. That's laughingstock material. That's an absolutely embarrassing thought.

Never forget they magnanimously offered the Astros the gate proceeds to let Houston use their about to be defunct stadium as the "home team" after Harvey devastated the city.

Baseball gods have never forgotten.

Nah, it's pretty weak. But it's late September baseball between two teams going nowhere. It's my understanding that there was no bonus for Minor to reach 200 k's. He was really pissed off at management in June/July, so maybe this sends him to the off-season on a positive note.

This isn't that big of a deal. It will be forgotten by tomorrow.

The poster got the concept from Evan Grant, the Rangers beat writer with the DMN. He suggested it after watching the Red Sox players' reactions to their 3 consecutive one-pitch AB's in the 8th inning. I don't know, I didn't watch the game. Just providing info on where this idea originated.

On a related note, Evan Grant is a very entertaining Twitter follow . . .

Who gives a $&@/

Texted my friend who is in his first full year as a Rangers athletic trainer. Whole team wanted him to get this milestone. Minor was almost out of baseball a few years ago. Pretty awesome to get it.

Oh yeah trash talk thread. Grienke didn't get the no hitter. How dare that other player get a hit instead of lay down and take it...

That's not the first time a team has done that. I believe Satchel Paige had his catcher intentionally drop a foul ball so he could strike the guy out on the next pitch.
