I have no idea who these people are, and of a couple I pulled up, one had 500 followers and the other had 1200. I mean, wtf is the point of bringing that here other than a meltdown?

I have a feeling if any these reactions were negative you'd be championing the hell out of them. Also, why is your opinion or anyone's else's here more valid than theirs? I have no ****ing clue who you are just the same, so why should I put your eventual opinion above or equal to theirs? I know y'all think critics are some snooty lib monolith of groupthink, but that's simply not the reality.

Again, I want this movie to be good. I also don't care if people on the internet find my opinion valid; I'm not selling it. thankfully, there isn't some hysterical person that takes my opinion and runs with it to other random social media sites because that would be ****ing weird. That said, if I was a legit critic, I would hope to have more than 529 followers

Again, I've been doing this for years and years on this board, for every big blockbuster, two or three times a year. This isn't some special occasion where I'm hysterically running here to post these.

Regardless, as over-the-top as early reactions can sometimes be, more often than not they serve as a bellwether for reactions to come. That, and we've been waiting months to see how the movie will be received, this is our first indication, and it's worth chronicling. To that end, for everyone who *****es about how many I post, just as many enjoy it, and have thanked me for not having to seek reactions themselves. Usually I do post fewer, but this is such a massive movie, and a lightening rod of a movie at that, that it felt worth noting the overwhelming positive response.

We know why you posted 50 and what you just posted isn't it. Seriously, these people have no followers. Why should I believe they even saw it? Or better yet, why can't you pause for a second and think "is it worthwhile to share what someone with 500 or 1000 or 1500 followers thinks?" Just some random account on a site known for random accounts.

Why do followers equal legitimacy in your mind? The point is they're all either accredited critics or legitimate journalists officially invited to press screenings, meaning they're legitimate/professionals in their field. But just because they're legitimate/professionals doesn't mean they all have big social media followings. That's not a prerequisite for the job, nor does it validate their opinions.

Please don't talk about the actual movie, this thread isn't about that.

All these reviews give me flashbacks of disclosure…and almost every other BIG movie.

Getting big letdown vibes

#1 I appreciate the tweets. Keeps me from having to go on X or whatever to see what people are saying.

#2 The tweets are far more entertaining than most of this board, including some variation of "calm down, buddy" trolls

#3 It's clear a lot of people on this board really, really want this movie to be bad, and I genuinely don't understand why. One of the best directors of a generation is spending a trip to tell one of the greatest tales ever. How could you root for that to fail? It's crazy pants.

#4 I'm extremely interested to read a critical review to help triangulate this thing. If anyone sees one, please post it.

#5 I'm a confessed stan for Nolan so take everything I say on the subject with a grain of salt.

FWIW, people going on and on about the set pieces reminds me of this scene from 30 Rock

There were only like twelve of those uber positive Disclosure Day reactions initially, you could make out the hedging here and there in a few of them, and none of them were from folks I 100% trusted. Granted, I was optimistic they would be indicative of the reactions to follow, but unfortunately they weren't.

Either way, they weren't anywhere close to what we're seeing now. This is an overwhelming number and an overwhelmingly positive response. Could the next wave be less enthusiastic? Sure. But usually, when early praise is this high in number, this consistent, this effusive, and this unanimous, it's the real deal.

Hope it's great and up to Nolan standards.

To me, as an outsider, it feels like blowhards trying to one up the last for prestige.

Again basing this on the "x" atmosphere. Would be more interested if someone came out and and gave a lick of criticism.

Not expecting that because they would be seen in a bad light.

Thank you! [/Michael Scott gif]

As for negative reactions, I'll post any I come across, I just literally haven't seen a single one yet.

This is my take too. Nolan is in my opinion the best popcorn director of the century. And people are rooting for this thing to fail based on a couple of casting choices. It's lame culture war BS based on internet echo chambers.

Please for the love of God can we create a new thread when the movie comes out.

I want this film to be good. Its one of my favorite stories. I'm not super pumped because the trailers and dialogue just seem off and I'm worried since its his interpretation that key components of the story may be changed.

We'll create a "spoiler" thread for sure.

Over/under on how many posts it then takes, once said thread is created, for someone to make a comment to the effect of "Lol how can we spoil a 2800-year-old book?"

Let's say five and I'm taking the under.
