I have no idea who these people are, and of a couple I pulled up, one had 500 followers and the other had 1200. I mean, wtf is the point of bringing that here other than a meltdown?
The Odyssey raves aren’t surprising at all, but it’s extra special to see this sea of praise and these elated first reactions when they’re coming from critics I respect and people whose insights are actually interesting, instead of HypeMaster Dave or Channel Epic Awesome

Early reviews on X are outstanding. Can't wait.

There were only like twelve of those uber positive reactions initially, you could make out the hedging here and there in a few of them, and none of them were from folks I 100% trusted. Granted, I was optimistic they would be indicative of the reactions to follow, but unfortunately they weren't.
Either way, they weren't anywhere close to what we're seeing now. This is an overwhelming number and an overwhelmingly positive response. Could the next wave be less enthusiastic? Sure. But usually, when early praise is this high in number, this consistent, this effusive, and this unanimous, it's the real deal.
This is my take too. Nolan is in my opinion the best popcorn director of the century. And people are rooting for this thing to fail based on a couple of casting choices. It's lame culture war BS based on internet echo chambers.MW03 said:
#3 It's clear a lot of people on this board really, really want this movie to be bad, and I genuinely don't understand why. One of the best directors of a generation is spending a trip to tell one of the greatest tales ever. How could you root for that to fail? It's crazy pants..

Please don't talk about the actual movie, this thread isn't about that.
The Odyssey is the greatest movie I’ve seen in my life.

Chris Nolan is a god amongst insects.
It makes Its a Wonderful Life look like Pulp Fiction.
This movie cured my depression and paid off my car loan.
IMAX, will you hold my hand next viewing?
Agree 100%, I can’t believe the hate against this movie from people who haven’t even seen it.
