I fully expect Dirk to go for 30+ next game.

But since we're at it, I fully expect the Spurs to wake the eff up next game.

It's certainly obvious that they have lost their focus a little. Owning a team for 10 straight games or whatever it was will do that to you. I think they will regain focus on the road.

Buck Harvey from the SA Express News was on Dallas radio last Friday saying the Spurs were giddy after Memphis beat the Mavs in the last game as they preferred to play Dallas. Perhaps the Spurs have quit taking Dallas seriously.

Prolly split the next 2 and series goes 7, but I will still stick with my original pick of mavs in 6

Your Houston in 5 is looking pretty good right now also.

Fear the beard! Red Nation!

Which team do you all think benefits most from all this down time in between games? Both teams are old as dirt and both have coaches who can make the most of the extra time to think and gameplan. Is it a wash?

I'd say a wash. Dirk/Tim aren't young and Vince/Manu need rest too.

I really hope the spurs show much more aggression Saturday
Way to many jump shots
Also, maybe less turnovers

Mag, you said Dallas in six. I'll GIVE YOU an extra game and say Spurs straight up. Dallas won't win this series in 7 games, let alone 6. 100 bucks?

If it goes 7 the spurs are winning, so I don't know if that really helps me out. I think I'll back down like simplebay this time.

Ok fine. Since you at least had the giblets to admit you didn't like the bet, let's go straight up spurs/Mavs (again, you said Dallas in six so merry Christmas for the free game). If I win, you can't post on ANY spurs threads, nor talk about the spurs on any other basketball other boards until the all star break of next season. If you win, I'll stay off basketball other completely, until the all star break next season.

Does this include a possible spurs/rockets thread?

Nope will not take the bet so you can enjoy being on the spurs thread next year. Thank me later. I'll be talking a lot of **** if we play in a series together.

Happy 38th BDAY to Tim Duncan. The GOAT.

Two days between games is terrible. This series is just getting good and now we have to wait an extra day again.

I think the schedulers were concerned about the Spurs and Heat sweeping so they built in all the down time up front. Too bad that didn't happen for the Spurs.

I think it's a wash. That said, I expect to see the Great Ginosebleed Disappearing Act soon.

Defensively for the rest of this series I expect I see Danny Green guarding Monta Ellis and Kawhi on Marion. Green excels at guarding smaller quick players and Ellis is a little bit too quick for Kawhi. Plus Marion isn't a guy that needs a ton of attention on offense, so Kawhi can play a sort of rover getting into passing lanes and poking the ball away when guys try to drive, and it'll help our rebounding (which was awful in game 2) by keeping him closer to the basket instead of on the perimeter.
Sher Thing

I agree Green should get some time on Ellis but I don't mind the two rotating on him.

Leonard defended Ellis extremely well the last regular season game of the year but Green should definitely get some time on him. Like you said it will also help Leonard get free to get some rebounds and keep him out of foul trouble a little.

It's not that Kawhi isn't capable of effectively guarding Ellis, because he is. In game 2 Ellis scored something like 20 points on 20 shots , so it's not like he killed us. But Green is a very good on ball defender, but pretty average off the ball. Him guarding Marion who only shoots it/drives if he's wide open is a waste of our second best perimeter defender. Kawhi is excellent off the ball and arguably our second best rebounder behind Duncan. Let him play like a free safety and cause problems and rebound. Hopefully, Kawhi can cause some turnovers and sky for boards and lead the break like he did during the season and it will get his offense going. And as you mentioned, keeping Kawhi out of foul trouble.
