What a genius Carlisle is. Hid his Spurs game plan the entire season because he knew the Mavs were going to face them in the playoffs.

Looks like the Spurs have nothing left in the tank. (Hope I'm wrong).

Well you can credit game 6 for making this one a lot easier to swallow for Spurs fans. Pretty much non reactionary when I saw that ball go through the net.

Hope Spurs can build up the energy for game 4. They did a lot of good things intake three. Dallas is shooting the ball extremely well.

I am afraid you are not.

The problem is, it is not the "old guys" it is the younger ones that have hit "the wall".

In game 1 and 2 to many shots hit the front of the rim an indication of no legs left.

This series is far from over, Game 4 is the game for the Spurs to turn the tide their way. Will be the toughest game the Mavs will have in the entire series, although yesterday's was a damn good battle.

Nobody on the team averaged more than 30mins/game over the entire season. It's not legs it's just jitters on the ranged shooting.

If the Spurs can't just come out and crush Dallas just one time this series from wire to wire, then there's no way in hell they had another run to the Finals in the tank anyway.

Games 4 and 5 will be very telling from that standpoint. This is the worst team they would face the whole way through the playoffs, no matter who is waiting in the WCF or semis.

There is no obvious fire under their ass like there was last year to try and get Tim another ring.

Tomorrow's game will tell me everything I need to know
I expect a very aggressive and hungry spur team

I don't think you're giving Dallas enough credit. A 49-33 record is hardly trash and with their offensive weapons, they can give any team a run for their money for 48mins (especially when you factor in the automatic boost Dallas gets from playing a white point guard against SA). Even if SA manages to just sneak by Dallas, SA would still have a great shot against anybody. Of course, that's assuming Calderon, Harris, and Marion all sink back toward their mean and SA gets by. If those guys all stay red hot, SA is in a crap ton of trouble.

Gotta make a statement tonight. Not just win, but a decisive like the Mavs had in game 2.

I meant no disrespect to Dallas. They're probably the best #8 seed in NBA history by far. But the fact remains, of all the teams the Spurs would face in a hypothetical run to the finals, they SHOULD be the most inferior / easiest to defeat of those opponents.

I mean, we're comparing them with Miami, OKC (most likely), and red-hot Portland. I don't think my original statement was a stretch in any sense. If the Spurs can't dismiss the Mavs a time or two this series in a game that was never all that close, they do not have the firepower to reach the finals, period.

Big game tonight. Offense clicked and effectively beat Dallas switching D, now just gotta have our defense step it up.

What is interesting is the Spurs seemed to find their offensive groove, especially with Manu running the pick and roll. However, Manu shot poorly in game three (4-14) which really hurt the spurs even though he created a ton of great offense. Unfortunately he is a pretty poor defender at this stage of his career and even gave up the game winning shot after making the go ahead shot a second before. He also is turnover prone.

Do you try to outscore the Mavs yet again and play Manu a ton at the expense of Green or do the Spurs adjust their gameplan and go with a more defensive line-up.

I know it an uncoventional lineup but I wouldn't mind the Spurs playing Manu, Green, Leonard, Splitter and Duncan for long stretches. Let Manu run the point on offense. On D let Green chase Calderon/Harris, Leonard on Ellis, Manu on Marion/Carter, Splitter on Dirk and Duncan on Dalembert.

The jumpshots have just been way too easy for Ellis, Harris and Calderon. We need to throw some length at them.

We need TP in there as much as possible. Without him or offense stagnates very quickly, as least in this series.

Manu is fine. Actually the one guy who's played three solid games for the Spurs.

Marco shouldn't be seeing more time than Danny though. Marco isn't bringing much more offensively than Danny is and at least Danny will play better defensively.

Manu had two wide open threes late that would have been daggers. Manu was getting great looks, as were his teammates. That's why if you pair him with Green you may get Green some wide open threes. Splitter or Diaw could be interchangeable as long as they are playing good D on dirk.

Meanwhile Tony was on the bench late. He didn't do much in the second half after coming out on fire. I am really curious to see what Pop does in this do or die game. Parker's defense has been terrible.

I really liked when we went small in the 4th because it opened up the lane for the pick and roll even more, and it allows us to play Manu and Green at the same time.

Technically, yes, with the worst W-L record. But the Mavs did beat each of the following teams twice this season:

OKC
Houston
Portland
Indy

Nearly beat LAC twice. Beat Memphis 3X. They good.
