In illinois...
If a student travels to a state on the illinois travel ban list, the student will have to quarantine and cannot even participate in *online learning*.
So much science!!!
That is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard. Even it that's legal, how is it ethical? It makes no sense at all. Are COVID cooties transmissible by cyber conversations? What if the student is masked?
Whoever made that policy deserves to be publicly humiliated.
I followed the link and responses and it turns out the policy is not as bad as the writer of the notice. The quarantine policy and no online learning applies to students that have opted for in-person learning. The reason they cannot switch temporarily to online is because it is two different curriculum models and the logistics of switching for a short period is more than is reasonable for the school to have to administer.
There was nothing that said the student can't continue the in-person assignments at home if they make arrangements, so I would suppose that is still an option. I know in normal circumstances schools in Texas would send assignments home for students that are unable to attend class for prolonged medical reasons.
But the writer of the notice deserves an F for the confusing, alarming nature of their communication.
