I don't think this is a real spoiler but it is one of the issues of the show from the books. In the books all the children are younger. Robb and Jon are both 14 I believe and Dany is also 14. Thus Sansa is 12 or 13. Basically the time from Robert's Rebellion to present was shifted from 13 years to 17 years since at the end of Robert's Rebellion you had a "baby boom" of sorts. They had to change that to 17/18 for the show because of the sex, you couldn't exactly have Dany with many of her scenes with Drogo if she is a 13 year old actress and it simply wouldn't play well with audiences to see that insinuated either. The reason Martin wrote them as that age is it is more appropriate to the Middle Ages where you didn't really have adolescence, you were either a child or an adult with nothing in between. For women they became adults as soon as they had they "flowered".

It does cause a few inconsistencies but really it is the only practical way of doing it.

From what I recall Robb is "of age" but Joffrey isnt. Thats why Robb can be King and Joff needed a "Lord Protector" (remember Littlefinger wanted Ned to rule for sometime then they out the Lannisters). S02E01 started with a birthday celebration, but this still lends to the fact that Joff is at least one year too young to be full-King. Cersei is still lawfully running the small council and the crown. So lets assume the age of manhood is 16.

Joff was 14 but recently turned 15. Robb has been 16 and is approaching 17. Sansa was probably 14 and hasnt bled yet.

Bad. Ass. Episode.

Great episode!

Tyrion is an absolute bad ass.

Khaleesi was great in this episode as well.

Joffrey is well beyond demented. I don't know that I have hated a character more than his in any show I've ever watched.

Was that Stark''s head in the box?

And what in the actual *****was that last scene?!

Ned's bones as a token of good faith, Tyrion says they will be sent back to Winterfell when the captured Lannister brings Robb Stark's terms to the small council meeting earlier this season.

Ned's bones were in the box. The nuns in this setting are in charge of taking care of the dead/bones/bodies.

Goodwill gesture from Tyrion to return Ned's bones so he can rest in Winterfell again.

Also, the episode was freaking badass.

The first half (maybe more) of book two was relatively boring (at least to me). If the show follows suit, which it seems to be doing, the next 6 episodes are going to be bad ass.

They said they were sending Ned's bones to Cat as a gesture of good faith, type thing.

I don't actually remember anyone saying that they were going to send them. Someone mentioned that it would be a sign of good faith but I thought that suggestion got shot down, no?

I think it was an argument between Cersei and Tyrion about the bones. Clearly, Tyrion is acting on his own through Littlefinger here, while Littlefinger obviously is acting for his own good.

robb put that in his original terms to the lannisters in episode 1, and most of the small council just said "eff that" but i think we're supposed to assume that tyrion took it upon himself to carry out that one wish, using littlefinger as an excuse to do it and build some good will with cat and robb. whether it actually will or not is up for debate

Pretty sure Tyrion said it in the previous episode, right before he was dismissed when talking about the wall.

Wowsers!!!!!

Great episode! AND it looks like a lot of the setup in the past 2 or 3 episodes are coming to fruition wiht some big action in the next episode!

-Loved Tyrion figuratively slapping down Joffrey when he started getting out of hand (and the Mad-King comparison was priceless, not to mention his explanation of education versus threatening)

-Daenerys was great gaining access to Qarth - I can hardly wait to see how that unfolds with the member of the 13 vouching for her and her party.

-Crazy ending too, I was wondering when we would see magic show up in the world again - kind of like the dragons, we knew it would because of Waaayy too much talk about it. It will be intersting to see the after-effects of that scene.

Oh, and I meant to comment on the actors too

Peter Dinklage is moving up my list of favorite actors very quickly - I love this character, and love the way he takes over a scene and commands attention

And Jack Gleeson is doing a great job - I caught myself telling my wife that my view of him in any other role after this will be tainted because he is doing such a good job of playing such a little pr***. I will have to fight through my utter and complete dislike of the character to ever give him a fair shake in any other role (which goes a long way to show his effectiveness in playing this character)

The prostitute Ros finds herself in some interesting situations does she not? For the book readers....is he this prominate in the book? Or is she a compilation of characters to give the scenes that she is in some validity and character recognition (make you feel more involved in the scene)?

Pretty sure the rat to the chest would be a pretty sucky way to go.

Ros is a composite character. Shouldn't say more than that.

Regarding Arya: She is repeating over and over, Joffery, Cersei, Ilyne Payne (sp), the Hound. Right?

Who is/was Ilyne Payne? Was he the guy that killed (in theory) her sword instructor? Don't know who else it would be that's "wronged" her family. And now the Mountain has been added to the list.

BillOnCapitolHill
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Illyn Payne is the bald executioner with no tongue, the guy that cut off her father's head. She did add the Mountain to her list as well as the torturer "The Tickler." You had to really pay attention to hear her add those last two.

As others said, Ros is more of a plot device to move the story along and show sides of certain characters you wouldn't get to see otherwise like Theon's romp with her in Season 1, which gave us background on his family that prepped viewers for his storyline in this season.

She is essentially the 'fly on the wall' who gives viewers a more rounded view of the players. Yes, we knew Joffrey was already a sicko A-hole, but the ***** torture was also a way for Joffrey to send Tyrion a message that he is not to be humiliated and educated as Tyrion tried to do because he is King.

That's right. I remember her saying The Tickler, but I forgot it as I was typing it.
