Maybe he was the Gatsby of Qarth, he showed alot bling and appeared wealthy but was hiding it behind a veil of secrecy and deceit.

No way do they do Books 4 and 5 as written. Even Martin has basically said how he did it was a mistake where he tried to publish faster but it actually caused more problems. I can't see viewers going without a few major characters for an entire season and being happy about it either. Book readers OTOH have less recourse, it's a lot easier to push around HBO than Martin. You simply can't let actors take a season off and then have them come back either and expect that to work.

Regarding books 4 & 5, there are some good resources online that outline which chapters to read from either book if you want it to flow chronologically. I imagine HBO would follow that direction in the tv series.

The idiots spoiling things seriously remind me of the comic book guy from the simpsons in their desire to let everyone know they already know what happens.

A friend of mine pointed something out/asked a question that I missed regarding Dany's dream sequence in the tower.

One of the scenes (throne room) was something she had never seen/experienced. The other (Khal Drogo) WAS something she had experienced. So were they her dreams? So were they her dreams? Premonitions? Stuff put in her head by the skinny multiplicity dudes?

I took the throne room scene with her as a premonition of "Winter has come" and the roof was gone because of the dragons (ala Harenhall). But I may be reading into it too much. And I'm not sure how she would have dreamed that since she has never been in the throne room.

There were 3 visions. She also saw the wall, another place she has never been.

They were playing on her desires. What does she want most. The iron throne. Drogo and Rhaego. Finally, the dragons.

The good news on the way the House of the Undying went down is book readers can't spoil it. Below isn't a spoiler but if you don't care to know anything whatsoever about how the book relates to the show don't read further.






They have completely changed Dany's storyline in Quarth and the way the HotU went down has caused a lot of rage from readers so we have no idea what will happen or what is happening with Dany. In the books there are many more visions of past and future along with prophecies that still drive immense debate 3 books later but NONE of them are in the show and the visions that are in the show aren't in the books or even close to them. Sorry to rant but I feel like the show watchers got cheated big time, the HotU chapter is probably the most complex and interesting in all 5 books and they completely flubbed it.

I thought the Twilight style romance garbage with Drogo was moronic and a pure sell out to get Jason Momoa back on screen one more time and appeal to female viewers.

I think most viewers probably realize that there was a lot more to the House of the Undying than what they got from the show -- with the # of times it was referenced in previous episodes and this enormous build-up to her finally going... and then... meh.

It definitely felt like there could have been much more to the scene, though obviously with no frame of reference I think most exclusive TV watchers were still pretty entertained.

But yes, the purple-lipped guy did build up more than what was eventually shown.

I trust the Xaro's vault was unchanged from the book to the show? Or was there any more significance given to it in the book that was not in the show?

this is such a moronic statement and honestly a little insulting to what the writers were trying to do (and IMO succeeded at doing)

it was the best thing the warlocks could try to use to trap her there. if she had finally given in and kissed Drogo, she would have been trapped in the HotU forever, or similarly if she had given in and held Rhaego she would meet the same fate. it brought an extremely important moment of closure to her relationship with Drogo, which she never really got because she was still hanging onto his memory even after the pyre, and it was the last puzzle piece needed to really make her independent and truly self-reliant

and even if you call BS on all that and still want to yell "fan-service! fan-service!", i enjoyed that scene immensely as a book-reader because it was a good final send-off for a badass character
