I am sure we will some answers in the next episode but we can assume Littlefingers plan worked and he was able to get Tywin Lannister some allies to save the day. As for Tyrion, I am thinking the kingsguard was told to make sure he would not survive. Glad to see that Pod saved his life.

Wildfire was simply awesome.

I have been watching the show and even though we are on season2, I just started reading book1. In it they talk about how the Hound's face got Disfigured.

If you remember they showed a fight between him and his older brother when they had a joust during Ned Stark's arrival celebration. During that fight he killed his brother.

Well, the book talks about the fact that when the hound was just a kid, he took a toy from his brother and to punish him, the brother held his face over a fire. That is how he got burned and disfigured.

So, during last night's episode, I figured he got freaked out by fire and people burning considering he himself got his face burned. That probably triggered the freak out and the change of heart.

I imagine she thought the city was about to fall like everyone else did. She's not a Lannister. She is a captive Stark so they would likely have mercy on her. A better option than braving a wartorn countryside on the word of a dude who scares the **** out of her and may rape, kill, or take her anywhere but north as soon as she left the city with him

That's possible. I've gotten the impression though that she trusts him. He's saved her twice so far (prevented her from killing herself and Joffery and the rape scene)...he's always been nice to her despite his gruffness. Seems like a risk either way.

Is Davos dead? Showed him getting blown from the boat but not sure if I missed anything after that. That whole scene was a blur. I don't think Tyrion is dead (admit I could be mistaken because they'll obviously kill anyone in this series). But I feel like they would have been a bit more definitive in his death scene instead of the "is he or isn't he dead" if they had really wanted us to think he was gone.

Um...he didn't kill his brother. And his brother has had a role most of this season at Harrenhall. And Littlefinger tells the story of how the Hound got his scars in that same brother-fight episode. They even hint to that dislike of fire last night before his freak out scene when he told the archers that if any of those flaming arrows came near him he'd "strangle them with their own guts".

I hope Tyrion is not dead but maybe that is how these books go, take your best character and kill him every season.

I really hope not!

Ok, maybe the brother is not dead. I have been reading the book on and off. Have not picked it up since the season started. Still only half way done.

But in the book the hound talks about it himself on how he got injured.

The Hound's brother is the guy that picks which person to torture and kill at Harrenhall, where Arya is. He's been in quite a few episodes this season.

I can see the confusion about his brother (the mountain) cause they changed the actor for him for season 2
Losman

The Mountain (Gregor Clegane) was at Harrenhall doing the dirty work for Tywin Lannister. His raids in the Riverlands were brought on when Lady Catelyn kidnapped Tyrion in Season 1 and Tywin Lannister used it as a means to undermine the Stark/Barratheon alliance. Now that war has been going on the Mountain's Men are dealing with rebels calling themselves the Brotherhood Without Banners. Sandor Clegane and his brother hate each other and are both huge men. The Hound is 6'7 and the Mountain is 8'.

Thought this was a really good episode. Just like in the books, I find myself drawn to characters that are the 'bad guys' like The Hound and Bronn. Bittersweet to see the finale next week.

There's no way a major character is going to be killed by a scratch across the face. Tyrion isn't going down that easy.

Awesome episode. The wildfire explosion was intense.

The Hound's character seems to have much more depth - some episodes I hate him, some he's alright. I didn't pick up on the fire connection when I was watching. He also seems to have some bond with Sansa.

Can't wait for the finale.

When they first showed his face I thought they were going to do the whole "top half of his head slides off" ala Resdident Evil or the like. I'm glad that didn't happen.

Isn't the guy that tried to kill him (and maybe succeeded, not really sure yet) the same guy that faced off against Arya's dance teacher last season. So is it safe to assume that the teacher is indeed dead now?

I'm not convinced that "no" was Sansa's final answer to The Hound to escort her north. She seemed to be thinking about it before they cut the scene away.

I wonder if The Hound feels a natural connection to the wolves that are the Starks in the north (and Sansa in particular), or if he just sees ice and cold as the opposite of fire, or a little bit of both.

I was under the impression that Davos was killed after the camera panned away to show the massive green explosion.

Yeah I'm assuming davos was crisped in the explosion. I'm hoping bron didn't die as I think he was still outside the walls when they closed the gates

I think Tyrion got more than a scratch to the face. The huge dude buried his sword into his shoulder, glancing his face on the way.

And the mutiny / assassination could have been on order of Cersei, who runs Joffrey's reign behind the scenes anyway.

I think the Onion dude is toast. He was in the front of the armada and none of those ships made it. However, there were a few burning soldiers emerging from the water (scaring the Hound), so maybe he made it.

Where was the Summer Islander pirate? I thought he was going to come along on the siege to have his way with Cersei?

Totally awesome episode. Nice feint by the writers on Tywin's intentions. He's supposed to be a villain, but he's a cool customer. I hope he wrecks shop with Joffrey and Cersei for their f'ups.

That was the impression I got as well, it'll be interesting to see next week.

I loved this episode but also feel like we missed out on all the other stories going on (which we obviously did but for good reason), I'm intrigued to see us catch up next week as news of what's happened hits everyone else.

I guess this is where Davos's son dies a "Pure death by fire" coined by Melisandra..

Funny I thought the Imp was going to fall down a hole in the sewers with no one noticing to lead and survive the battle..

The hound cutting guys in half was serious BA..

Wildfire = Awesome

I would pay a lot of money to punch Geoffrey in the face..

Sansa didn’t want to leave because she thought the Lannisters would lose and that she would be freed by Stannis. I think now she will be having 2nd thoughts.

Not sure if anyone noticed the song at the end of the episode. That was an original song written by the author and sung by one of my all-time favorite bands the National. Really cool and perfect ending to that episode. Would love to be able to download it if anyone finds a link. It also might be sold on the soundtrack, I need to check out Itunes after work.

Stannis and the Hound carried this episode.

Stannis leading the charge, one fearless mofo. He was only held back when Loras and Tywin arrived and it was pretty much hopeless to sustain his advantage.

Clegane hacking up everyone, showdown with Bronn, leaving the battlefield, going to Sansa. Out-effing-standing!

Bronn was purely awesome in that episode as well.

I agree with you and fig. She said no, but then she went to the doll Ned gave her. She then asked him again if he would keep her safe. I took that question to mean she had reconsidered, and the memories of the doll mean she's going to leave, to me.
