I've seen a good share of odd questions on this board in my 13 years or so on it, but that's truly one of the oddest.

I think he is asking if its allegorical or true fiction.

Take Animal Farm that is an allegory to Russia. The pig (Trotsky) that was a hero that becomes a "traitor", the farm (Germany) next door that they had a treaty with but attacked the farm...there are a ton of nuanced parallels with the rise of the Bolsheviks in Animal Farm, but is it a fiction? Some categorize it as a political treatise and therefore non-fiction.

"Boobies and a snarky dwarf" would be enough to get me to start watching!

Should I finish the second book before starting the season?

I really recommend reading all the books then watching.

Many differences can leave you confused if doing both a t he same time.

Definitely don't watch the series the read the books.

Me too. I thought it actually helped me understand the book. I knew the characters and th basic premise of what was going on as I read the confusing names and plot lines.

Really disappointed they changed the actor for the Mountain.

Wasn't production's choice. The original actor pursued other interests.

Those have got to be the kids from the farm, right?

I got the impression that they were bodies from the sacred underground Winterfell tombs. The way everyone gasped and they looked so decayed.

No I'm pretty sure they were burnt boys from that farm. That's why they made a point of Bran saying he had sent those two orphan boys to that farm when they were discussing asking for the food.

They looked like they were burnt not decayed.

Some of my consistently favorite scenes recently have been between Tywin and Arya. Tonight's was the best yet.

Damnit, I'll have to watch that last scene again when it finishes taping in HD on the West Coast. Watched in HBO GO with the interactive features since it comes up instantly when the show airs in EST.

So much to squeeze into a film. Can't believe there are only two episodes left and we'll have to wait another year.

yeah, i don't read the books, but the impression I got was most definitely that it was the boys from the farm and not Bran/the other....as they burned the bodies to shield the identity and scare the people of Winterfell into submission.

That was episode 7. That means three more episodes.

Odd they said 2 Episodes left. They have already said there are 3:

Blackwater

Yeah upon a second watch definitely charred bodies, but no defining characteristics to suggest it's the Stark boys. As someone suggested, it does seem like Theon is pretending it's them.

Forgot to mention before, but the murder scene in Qarth was amazing too. My jaw just completely dropped.

Either HBO screwed up with that "only two episodes left" promo, or they meant there's only two lepisodes left until the season finale. Because there are definitely THREE episodes left, as they've aired seven, the finale airs June 3rd, and every episode guide has three titles/descriptions left to go.

Lady Stark was about to get dirrty. Kept laughing when Jaime kept referring to Brienne - "Where did you find this beast?"

Theon - Gives a "wtf did I do" stare after he shows the burned bodies. I agree, those have to be the boys from the farm and not the stark kids. Guy seems like he's in a bad situation, as I cannot see anyway he'll escape a candy-arse whoopin from Robb Stark.

John - The guy has a knack for getting himself stuck in bad situations. Let's see how he gets outta this one.

Dany - WTH is up with that skinny guy with the Obama lips? He's got the cool Piccolo body split technique going on, except he's a mad creeper. The "Summer Isle American" and purple lips teammed up to establish a king of Qarth, thus killing off the other of the 13 and bringing the "change" needed to keep Qarth great or whatever. Seems like they're going to use Dany for her dragons ? Not cool.

Did I sense a sister - midget dwarf brother connection moment? I think I did.

Arya - Tywin scenes were legit once again.

Robby is getting soft on me with his little nurse mistress.

Loved the episode last night! Once again, building towards a pretty big climax at the end of the season.

Loved the Arya/Tywin scenes, especially when Tywin called her out that he knew she was a noble-born acting like a peasant. (He's smarter than he lets on sometimes)

I have had a feeling all along that Jon Snow would have some sort of major impact on the whole kingdom with something from the North. I think this may be the beginning of something very big for him.

Theon had already sealed his fate when he attacked and took Winterfell, not to mention killing Ser Rodrick. But with the last scene, he set himself up for one of the worst a$$-whoopings of the series to come from Robb. (and I agree that the two bodies are probably the two orphans sent to the farm, that Brand mentioned when they arrived) I think Theon is just too stupid for his own good...

(EDIT: To correct several spelling errors - darn spell-check-free posting!)

This episode was good, but not as good as last week's. That said, it was setting up the rest of the season to be great.

Jon - he is beginning to annoy me how he keeps screwing things up and getting himself into trouble. The wildling he was very good at getting into his head and messing with him. Not sure how he's going to get out of his current situation.

Dany - that murder scene was cool. The Qarth scenes are very weird and I have no idea what to expect.

Arya - like Tywin has said, she's too smart for her own good. The more she interacts with Tywin, he's beginning to suspect she's not who she says she is. It's just a matter of time until he realizes she's a Stark girl. But damn, these scenes are good.

King's Landing - Tyrion and Cersei briefly bonded, but from the promo for the next episode(s), they quickly fall back to not liking each other. It was interesting to hear her talk about Joffrey that way. I imagine the next scene between Joff and Sansa will be pretty intense...not sure what's going to happen here.

Theon - oh man. He is so @#$%ed. No way those are Bran and Rickon, but still. When Robb hears about this from Luwin, Theon just better kill himself now. The guy playing Theon does a great job to show that he really doesn't have a clue what he's doing and how scared he really is. Even though those two burned bodies likely aren't the Stark boys, there's no going back for Theon now after the gruesome Cassel beheading and killing orphan boys.

Yeah, Theon is pretty much in a no win situation and the actor has played that inner conflict out beautifully. You saw the smile on his first mate's face when Theon started beating his own man for back talking him. That kind of brutal leadership is what the Iron Men respect and follow. They are a hard people, and it has forced him to become someone who he is not. Better to be cruel than weak. He even told Luwin that if he fails, he'd be a shamed eunuch ridiculed for the rest of his days. Remember, he wasn't even supposed to be at Winterfell. He was just trying to make his own way to gain respect from the family who forgot him.

Arya and Tywin's scenes continue to be great. Loved getting the history of Harrenhall and showing that, despite being enemies, they really do have quite a bit in common with each other. Arya holding the knife staring longingly at Tywin's neck while he was turned was intense.

It's nice to have Jaime back. Cunning and brutal SOB killing his own cousin to escape.

And the Qarth 13 assassinations were crazy. They keep the magic in the background so much in this series that it always catches me off guard when it pops up out of nowhere for a sudden impact.

Great set up episode.
I thought the scenes between Jon Snow and Ygritte were great. She was mind effing him like crazy. Everyone needs to remember that Jon is less than 20yrs old in this story.
The quote "you know nothing Jon Snow" says it all.
I also thought Cersei brought it tonight. Both seasons with Sansa and Tyrion were great and well executed.
