I think he's mainly gathering intel and planning his next move.
They've never flat out said why Tywin is there. But due to Harrenhal's geographic location it makes tactical sense so that he can better coordinate his armies against Robb's forces.
And while Harrenhal is a shell of its former self it is still quite formidal as far as being able to with stand an attack (the discussion Tywin and Arya had in the last episode)

Yeah, he's been getting his ass kicked, so it seems like it would provide a solid defensive position while planning his next move.
I just put names with faces of new characters for this thread to keep it all straight.
Speaking of names and faces...I would do dirty, sweet, nice, mean, things to Ygritte. Jon Snow should've broke his vows for sure. You truly know nothing, Snow!

sorry i havent kept up with the discussion. When jorah was talking to the woman in the mask she asked him if he would betray daenerys again. What did he do to betray her? She wasnt inferring that he stole the dragons was she?

Bill's description has been talked about at least three different times in season one. Not a spoiler at all.
that was not only hinted at, but directly stated by a character in season 1 (that small child in episode 7 that gave him the king's pardon)

I got a different reaction from Theon at the end. I thought those were the Stark kids and maybe Theon thought they had only been beaten and were supposed to be strung up. The look of terror he got when he turned around told me that he was surprised that they had been burned.
But maybe those were the orphan kids and that look was his sudden realization of just how far down the rabbit hole he'd gone.

I thought it was mentioned season 1 the wildlings leader was a ranger from the knights watch... Someone they knew. Doubt it would be Benjinn.

I'm pretty sure Mance Rayder was a known man of the watch BEFORE he defected to the north. Two separate men, no chance for mistaken/shared identity.
Doesn't mean that stark couldn't be going under an assumed name

That's what I was thinking, he'd just left pretty recently.
He also is without his horse and possibly his arm...
I think a re-watch of the last two episodes with captions on is needed for any wondering about a mance and benjen tie in.
