Thought the episode was great, though I did not care for the scene with Jaime and his cousin -- simply because you could see it coming from a mile away (the cousin moving closer to Jaime everytime the camera went back to him was just made way too obvious).

Because of that it was hard to really get into Jaime opening up about his past and what he is/isn't good at because you knew what he was about to do.

Didn't watch the preview for next weeks episode, but I wouldn't be surprised if a Tyrion-Cersei alliance began to develop to mitigate Geoffry's idiocy and thereby protect themselves.

Oh, and I really do hope we have the full 3 episodes and that the season finale is a 2 hour affair. It would really allow them to throw some massive battle scenes into the finale (which I feel they are constrained from showing due to time requirements of having 7-8 storylines).

As for Theon trying to be a hard azz, I can't see how he would get respect from his people when he acted like that was the first head hes ever punched and tended to his hand some.

Quick question: when Tywinn referred to an attempt on his life (while talking to The Mountain and the hangings were happening in the courtyard) was he referring to something that they didn't show? Or was he referring to the guy that Arya had killed getting assassinated at his doorstep?

Just curious.

Can someone fill me in on why Tyrion shipped off Cersei's daughter to wherever and why? I was pretty confused by that.

Also, Cersei and Robert have 3 kids? Joffrey, and two princesses right? Are the girls Robert's kids or Jaime's or do we not know?

during the brother/sister moment, they talked about the Targaryen's would marry brother/sister and have kids, and 50% of the time they were crazy.

Then Tyrion said something to the effect of the other 2 are fine, so you've beaten the odds (Joffrey is mad, but the others aren't, so 67%).

What I took from it was they are all Jamie's kids.

But again, I am not(at least not yet even though I have them all) a book reader. waiting for season 2 to finish before I jump in.

He shipped her off to another House to marry her off to and form an alliance.

All three kids are Jaime's. Joffrey, Prince Tommen, and Princess Myrcella.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Tyrion likes Myrcella and wants to protect her from all the happnenings at King's Landing.

I believe Cersei and Jamie have three kids: Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen. I think Cersei and Robert tried to have a kid, but the baby was stillborn.

In season one when Ned confronted Cersei, He said "all your children are Jamie's aren't they?" (or something like that). Cersei replied "Thank the Gods", then told Ned how she would finish off Robert in other ways besides inside her so she wouldn't get pregnant. Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella are Jamie's.

Tyrion is trying to setup up an alliance with the Southern region called Dorne. The late Princess Elia (Rhaegar's wife) was Dornish and the current leader of Dorne Prince Doran (Her brother) has been wanting to get revenge for her death. Tyrion proposed the alliance to counter the Tyrell influence in Kings Landing as Dorne and Highgarden are natural adversaries. Sending Myrcella off will keep her safe if King's Landing falls to the armies of Stannis or Robb as well as preserving an heir to rally behind. It also keeps her away from her mother who Tyrion sees as a poisonous influence on. We will learn more about Dorne in further seasons.

first question: tyrion sent myrcella to one of the seven kingdoms at the southern tip of westeros, called Dorne, to marry the heir of the ruling family in that area, the Martells (none of whom we have met yet in the series). in the show, it's sort of explained over time that he did this for two reasons:

1) to protect her from the craziness in kings landing
2) to forge an alliance by marriage with house Martell

as to the second question, it's confirmed back in season 1 that all cersei's living kids are jaime's. this was in episode 7 when Ned confronted her about it

"Do you love your children, Lord Stark?"
"Yes."
"No more than I love mine."
"And they're all Jaime's."
"Thank the gods."

or something to that effect

The episode where he finds out who is betraying him to Cersei and then the followup where the girl is being shipped out from Kings landing at the beginning of the episode.

I don't think the fact that Rhaegar's wife was Dornish is actually mentioned directly in the show but it is on the HBO website and is just backstory. Some of the Dorne stuff is on the border of spoiler because it isn't in the show but that's really just because of lack of time. There are no real Dornishman in the show so far but there are a lot of indirect references to them. For instance Arya named her wolf "Nymeria" which is the name of the first Queen of Dorne that came to Westeros and was a bad***.

The reason that Tyrion wants to form an alliance with them is they are one of only 2 of the 7 Kingdoms (the other being The Vale) that have stayed out of all the fighting.

No way that was Rickon and Bran. It is one thing for Theon to be goaded into killing the old guard, who never respected him and spit in his face. Quite another to kill two little boys that grew up as his brothers.

The mean dude sent the Maester away so that they could perpetrate the ruse with the orphan boys. He sent him away when all they had was walnut shells and no scent. Couldn't have been super confident that they would imminently have the Stark boys.

Wonder what Caitlin is going to do with Jaime. She can't kill him or Sansa (and as far as she knows, Arya) is dead. Cut out his tongue? Cut off his incestuous junk? Disfigure his pretty, smug face?

Pretty sure that was a rhetorical / sarcastic question he was asking about which episode that was in since it was obvious the previous comment was made by a book reader.

There is nothing wrong with adding additional information be it from the book or from the hbo website as long as it has happened in the show

No doubt. It's obvious he knows she isn't who she says she is, though I don't think he quite realizes what she is either.

Exactly what I was thinking. Though if this show has shown me one thing it's that they aren't afraid to kill people off.

We didn't see any of Stannis in this episode, though I think Tyrion mentioned that his ships were on their way to King's Landing?

the ships were 5 days away from King's Landing.

I think there should be some way to perma-ban people from this thread when they pose as non-book readers. I think it ruins the experience for you guys, and it ruins it for people like me who have read the books and like to read your reactions to the show.

I would also like to agree with the Tywin/Arya comments, those 2 are doing a great job.
terradactylexpress
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Oh give it a rest. As long as people aren't revealing things to come who cares if they have read the book or not. If you are that worried about seeing something that is not in the show don't read about it

Last year I'm pretty sure there were people "posing", but this year I haven't gotten that perception. I like that some of the posters in here are readers because there are some things omitted from the show that when added to this conversation helps fill in some blanks (Ticklers interrogation about the Brotherhood comes to mind).

I really don't understand why the readers want to post on the non reader site. They have a site full of spoilers.

Do they think that the people on that site aren't watching too? They can talk with them all they want!!!
