The old man is Craster.

This scene was completely new to book-readers. It alludes to him "offering" his sons to them. But this story arc is completely new.

Bunk - i think the man playing Gendry is also from Skins. that's what i've read, i've never actually watched that show

Yeah, Gendry is the other one I noticed last year.

Favorite quote of Ep. 2:

Boy: Are you saying you want to rape the queen?

Pirate: I'm not going to rape her...I'm going to ef her.

and Bron commenting "No, I'd ask how much?"

Not having read the books, I might be reading too much into this....but I'm guessing Tyrion filed that one away under "Keep an eye on this guy or make sure you're the Lannister who is willing to pay him the most". Bron just revealed his true motivator.

Bronn is a sellsword. It's no secret to anyone - Tyrion included - what his true motivator is.

Pretty sure Tyrion figured it out when Bronn volunteered to fight to the death for him

I realize that. But being willing to take money from the one guy out on the road that can pay, and being in King's Landing around TONS of folks who can pay him....that's what seemed different. You could almost seem to see it in Tyrion's eyes. It just seemed like a reminder to him of who/what Bronn is.

It was just an observation....not necessarily a new concept.

And it was Tyrion reminding himself that no matter how well they might get along, Bronn is not his friend and shouldn't be trusted.

I almost caught a hint of sadness in his response to Bronn's answer. Tyrion didn't get the answer he was looking for and seemed depressed knowing he is all alone with no one he can truly count on. A lesson the last Hand didn't learn very well.

Rewatched the ep. I though the Tyrion-Varys exchange was probably the best part of the episode. I completely missed the double entendre the first time I was watching (to my credit, I was pretty ****ed up)

One of my favorite scenes was the exhange between Yoren and the Goldcloaks.

The support characters definitely contribute to how much I like the show

Probably just a formality at this point, but GoT has been renewed for Season 3.

America's destiny is not of our own choosing. We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive.

Sure didn't seem like much happened in the last episode. We'll see what's in store tonight.

eh, decent amount. Bronn to head of the city watch, arya and gendry confide in each other, rakharo died, whole bunch of theon stuff, and jon cliffhanger

I thought it was a good episode and lots of stuff happened.

We realize The Greyjoys have intentions of getting involved...just not with the Starks.

Tyrion is starting to swing his dengus around in the capital quite a bit.

Dany has a new enemy....one that she hasn't even met yet.

Lots of stuff revealed north of the wall.

Arya is back in the game...and with an ally.

Every episode is not going to be crammed with sex, battle, and key deaths. I love the introduction of key characters and more insight into already introduced ones (Davos and Stannis).

Man, the death scenes for this episode were brutal. The slow slide of the sword down Yoren's neck and then the slow stick through the neck. Made me wince.

I liked Yoren too. Damn it!!!

Something tells me I better get use to that though (characters I like getting killed).

They did yoren's character justice in the series. it was one of those things where the character basically jumped out from the books and was there, tremendous writing and acting. Long live yoren

Power resides where men believe it resides. It is a trick, a shadow on the wall. And one small man can cast a very large shadow...

best line of ep 3.

Yoren was awesome. It's also gotta really suck to be faced with Theon's choices. I was sad when he burned the letter.

what strikes me the most about Theon's scenes (apart from the content itself since i already know what's going to happen) is how beautiful they are. the letter burning scene was so cool, the way everything around him was completely dark, gave an eerie sense of isolation. and then the Drowned God baptism was just a gorgeous shot

I thought Tyrion's lady becoming Sansa's new handmaid was interesting. Something tells me that will be an integral part moving forward. Also, Tyrion is just completely maneuvering and manipulating. And I can't help but think that Tyrion will bring about the fall of Cersei/Joffrey in some way, along with Sansa.

Also, Renly is ....wow. How is he related to Robert? Jeez...Although he proclaims that he'll avenge Ned's death, he appears to be in no rush to get out and fight. Seems like he'll wait it out till it's right for him to get involved.

Elliot P. Campbell

well, like Catelyn said, Renly's army is full of the "knights of summer", and that's reflective of their king

The biggest plus I thought in this episode was they didn't try to keep up all the storylines. No Robb, no Stannis, no Dany, and barely anything North of the Wall. That allowed for more development of the storylines they did focus on and made it less confusing. I am a reader but my wife is not and I felt like the first 2 episodes I had to explain a lot but in this episode it flowed a lot better and was more straightforward. Some very solid writing in this episode.

RIP Yoren.

Book info but definitely NOT A SPOILER:

Did I miss where someone may have mentioned that they changed the name of Theon's sister for the tv show? It's Asha in the book but Yara on tv. Anyone know why?
