Taking that article on face value, it kind of gives creedance to what I was saying before. Which is that I don't think social media "influencers" in the very general sense of the term are going away. What studios can do though is stop explicitly using the complete shill influencers who have no real opinion and are bought and paid for by the studio. Instead they can grant early screening access to the social media influencers who more or less operate like traditional media and give their own independent opinions to their subscribers. I kind of took the original claim of "Nolan bans influencers!" as that, and not necessarily banning all social media. And I think that's what TCTTS was implying as well.

So much noise around this one, I'm betting it's going to be kick ass and the consternation will all have been a colossal waste of time.

I'd be more pissed if Nolan left out Argos than if he made the entire story about Odysseus dismantling the patriarchy while eating fruit cups.

I went ahead and grabbed an IMAX ticket for this on the Saturday morning after it comes out. The Katy AMC IMAX screen (not true IMAX but closest to me) had most seats open.

I guess I'm not entirely sure how that's any different?

The trailers still do nothing for me either. Meanwhile I've watched the Dune 3 trailer 50 times. Now that's a trailer.

I hate to break it to you, but that's not gonna happen. There's no way this movie is a flop, or worse loses money. The only thing that might happen is it makes less than expected and only hits $700-800 million instead of a billion.

Agreed. If Nolan's name wasn't attached to it I wouldn't consider seeing it in theaters. Lots of red flags for me.
At this point I'm 50/50 & will wait until some real reviews come out to make that decision.

The trailer is getting "ratioed to hell" because of losers who still think Elliot Page is playing Achilles and because of the folks foaming at the mouth that a black woman is playing Helen of Troy. It's mostly classic, culture war downvoting nonsense, not so much people going that far out of their way to downvote it simply because they think it actually looks bad.

I'm not saying people can't think the movie looks bad on its own merits. If that's truly how you feel, fine. Even I'm a bit underwhelmed by the trailers as well.

But it's just so clear at this point that pre-hating on this thing - or at least going out of your way to not give one of the all-time best directors the benefit of the doubt - has become an ideological cause of sorts at this point. And judging by your posting history - spending the time you do on F16 - plus your desire to want it to fail, without having even seen it for yourself... I'm guessing you fall in that camp.

Otherwise, at worst, this looks.... fine. Average. So-so. In no world does it actually look as terrible as some of you are making it out to be.

All I know is I've never wanted a movie to come out more, if only to put an end to all of this mind-numbing discourse. Good or bad, at least all of the posturing will be over.

Don't be so sure of that. By that standard Supergirl would have been universally lapped up by critics, and well......

Nolan's worst movie (Tenet by all accounts) is still more entertaining and interesting than about 90% of movies that come out. I just don't understand this take. Even if it isn't the best Nolan movie, its going to be a good time. Deciding to pre-hate it is just a waste of energy and making you miss out on the fun of the movies.

"Hollywood" isn't the monolith you want it to be. Sure there is a majority culture that is preachy. But not every filmmaker is in that mold. The insistence to throw Nolan in that bucket just says more about the people who do that than Nolan or his movie.
