New law won't go into effect until September.

50,000 jobs lost and countless small businesses closing. This is stupid

Soooooo many clueless people are going to stroll up to their head shop in September to buy their delta's only to discover, for the first time, that this law took effect.

I doubt very many people even know this is even going on.

Yeah but think about the cartel's gained jobs

Oh and the extra cash coming into hospitals for folks taking questionable replacements

Okay. Why don't you scroll up a bit and tell the 76 year old poster who had the courage to share his chronic pain story that he's now better off without access to these "hardcore drugs that have no place in today's society"

Have some empathy for goodness sake. THC edibles do not affect you in the slightest.

Sorry to hear about how this is impacting you and yes hopefully a veto comes through (sadly not confident of this the closer we get). As an fyi (assuming it doesn't get vetoed), you may be eligible for Texas' medical program once this goes into effect. It's a pretty easy process, just a video appt with a doc and then there are a few options for places to order from. Downside is it's much more expensive, but likely an option for you if you need it.

I just took a Wyld gummy I bought at Greenbelt botanicals and I'm gonna fold laundry and watch a movie, maybe take a nap. Thankful our government is wise enough to see the danger in this behavior.

"Hardcore" drug users like you are clearly leading to the deterioration of our society. Think of the children! Now go blow a bunch of money getting drunk in public like a responsible Texan.

I sadly because I still LOVE teaching, am in the process of retiring about 33 years in public schools and about 44 overall in education. On my retirement I will have to watch every penny and unless the medicals are edibles, I can't use them anyway and I won't be able to afford them unless medicare would pay for it which I doubt. I don't know the expiration date on edibles, but I will try for at least a couple fo month's worth.

As the poster pressed "post", he then with a shaky hand pours his first of 7 gin & tonics and takes his 2nd hydrocodeine of the day. By 9pm he will be resting soundly due to the careful regiment of doctor prescribed pain medication and legal grain alcohol. No hardcore drugs for this whippersnapper!

I don't touch alcohol anymore. Not a drop, but I used to be a fairly heavy drinker. I'm never going to cast aspersions against those who do, I just personally like the feeling of half of a delta 9 gummy or a scoop of Kratom over alcohol. To each his own.

I haven't had a drink in at least 2 weeks. I take a gummy nightly.

Some of these posts scared me for sec. Did Wheels actually sign the bill or not yet?

I used to drink a lot. A lot a lot. Enough to essentially pass out every night. It was the only way I could sleep.

Since I started using gummies, it is rare that I drink alcohol. I might have a beer with a friend or if we are out socially. My health and sanity has improved many many times over.

Yes Abbott's decision in regards to this THC bill is absolutely the most important issue facing us, the populace, of Texas today and in the future. If he doesn't veto it our world is going to come crashing down around us and change so much as to become unrecognizable. If he doesn't veto it, we, as a group, need to take all our toys and just go home.......
Thank you for contributing to the thread Mr. Abbott. Now kindly GFY.
Taking so long to veto has already hurt him politically,

I wish I could agree with you but the voting right populace has incredibly short memories and is too optimistic in election season.

Just a few years ago Abbott postponed opening Texas from his own Covid lockdowns until it was politically convenient on Texas Independence Day. The voting right lapped that up like a bunch of fools when all of opening metrics were met well before then and Abbott still delayed.
You would think Abbott would have learned from that mistake. That's what smart people do.
Im Gipper
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Why would he "learn from that mistake" when it cost him literally nothing? We still easily won the primary and general without breaking a sweat. He probably doesn't even view it as a mistake.

Texas was fully open before Florida and people act like Desantis was a Covid response god.

BTW, I'm not defending Abbott here. Should have opened things up fully months and months earlier.

I gave up booze about five years ago because I was pre-diabetic. Lost a lot of weight. I don't even really like THC very often but on occasion after the kids are in bed on a weekend night, it's nice for chilling, watching a movie, playing some flight sim, and extra curricular activities. It's nobody's business but my own if I choose to do so. Anyone that thinks I should be thrown in jail for up to year for that can DIAF. You're no better and just as ignorant as the gun ban liberals.

The deadline to veto is is 11:59 pm tomorrow I believe.

It certainly doesn't seem like Abbott is going to do anything. That said, if you want to insert the Jim Carrey you're saying there's a chance gif, it's not unusual for the governor to veto things at the absolute last second, with zero fanfare. For whatever reason, that can be a bigger middle finger to Patrick.

I have maybe 2 drinks a month, at the absolute most. Only socially when we go out to dinner with friends and I never have more than 1-2. Alcohol turns my sleep to crap so I am mostly a teetotaler now. I'd fit right in at your baptist potlucks. One delta 8, on the other hand, I sleep like a baby and wake up feeling rested. I have never mixed the two.

This gotcha isn't a gotcha. Your opinion on this issue is coming from a place of complete ignorance

If it's such a huge issue, why isn't he vetoing?

I'm skeptical that the GOP who still backed Abbott after he locked us in our homes and closed our businesses will jump ship over not getting THC. Like I said, maybe you are right but history seems to suggest otherwise.
