I'm for legalization and taxing the hell out of it - like 50-100% sales tax. But I want it illegal to do it outside your own property or place of residence. I don't want to smell it non-stop.
Why would I pay 2x-3x the price when I can go black market?

One of the biggest issues/mistakes CA has made is that there are so many regs and taxes associated with legally growing cannabis that it is easier and cheaper to just go to the old tried and true imported from Mehico black market variety.

We already have smoking bans just about everywhere these days, do you think these bans would magically not apply to somebody smoking a joint but apply to somebody that wants to fire up a Marlboro?

Same way you test for any impairment.

Impaired driving isn't limited to alcohol, it's really pretty much at the discretion of the officer as to whether or not you are impaired. You can get a DUI even with an alcohol content under the .08% legal threshold. You can get a DUI if you down half a bottle of Nyquil and decide to drive, or pop one of those sleeping pills before driving, etc.

This is where places like Cali have gotten it wrong. It's basically only weed tourists and the upper class who buy legal from dispansaries...because they charge like a 30-40% tax or somoething like that.

People can get good stuff easily on the streets for much cheaper.

I think if it were ever legalized here, it would be smart to taz it in the 10-15% range, at most.

Yeah, I believe alcohol in establishments is subject to a 6.7% gross receipts tax (and sales tax). Feels about right for this. If the goal is to keep it safe and regulated and above board, then you have to make it a reasonable for reputable companies to operate and compete.

He knows any argument he does bring would get knocked into the cheap seats. The only thing anyone can really bring is "what about the children?", but a ban leads to a much more robust black market and that robust black market is the best avenue for kids to get it.

Dan Patrick is at least getting paid for his position; in fact, getting paid is the only reason Patrick has taken this position. It makes this dude sub-Dan Patrick. Ouch
