I wish the NBA would send out little fines for when players obviously foul and then act like it's absurd they were called for a foul. Bev on Mills is example. It's in the same category as flopping.

Beverley's a POS. Fits right in with Leonard and Morris.

They pulled it out but these young guys will learn how to close out games. Every game is a learning experience for them. Murray had a good game after a terrible game against Utah. Vassell had a great game. Keldon had to work really hard on the defensive side tonight.

Lamarcus wasn't on the floor at the end of the game last night probably due to limited minutes and Demar only scored 6 points.

This game was all about Patty and the kids.

Yeah, my post aged poorly. Gonna be lots of ups and downs this season playing the young guys.

I was surprised that Lonnie took Kawhi most of the game. He seemed to do a pretty good job. Eventually Kawhi realized he's just bigger and started to bully his way into his midrange spots. Man I hate Kawhi but he's so good.

Yeah who else is even in the argument? Boris? Batum? Nando?

The west is just going to be so tough this year. So many teams are right there, that any little break, injury could cause it to go one way or another.

I know it has only been 7 games but as of today this is what it looks like.

The Lakers and Suns have 2 losses, Lakers on top with 6 wins.
Clippers have 5 wins and 3 losses.
3 teams are ties with a 4-3 record
5 teams (including the Spurs have a 3-4 record)

Some good teams are going to be left out of the playoffs.

AD, Lebron and KCP are all questionable tonight.

Timmy is a guest on the ringer pod today. Really excited to listen.

Also if y'all didn't catch Timmy's appearance on Road Trippin with RJ and Channing from a few years back, I'd highly recommend it.

Spurs making a hard run at a Staples sweep. Up 10 with 6 minutes left. Let's see if they can finish.

Spurs win!

Beat both LA teams who are seeded 2 and 3 on the road. I was nervous for them on this road trip but so far 2 good wins.

Well that's a 2-game winning streak I didn't expect.

Well I'm not allowed to watch anymore games. Two wins in a row against both LA teams on the road, and I haven't been able to watch either. Nice recovery after two hard losses to the Lakers then that **** show against Utah.

I didn't see this posted, but this was a great interview with Tim Duncan on The Ringer Podcast

Edit: I see it was mentioned above.

We are 4-4 with a pretty tough schedule so far. With the next few games against Minnesota, OKC and the Rockets they have good chance to expand that streak. As tough as the West is, they have to win the games against these lower tier teams.

The audio on Tim's flip phone was atrocious

He definitely faded in and out a ton. Really great interview though. Tim seems to respond best to interviews with other players.

Great interview.

I either forgot or completely blocked out that Raja Bell did a training camp with the Spurs. If Pop didn't cut him, that would have completely changed that team. Always able to have either Raja or Bowen on the court. We spent so long looking for a SG to start in front of Manu.

SJax, Hedo, Devin Brown, Brent Barry, Finley, etc.

I'm pretty certain Bell was cut before we had Bowen. If he fulfilled that 3&D roll, maybe the Spurs would never have had Bowen. Crazy to think about, especially considering his jersey is retired.

He was, but he didn't really develop into a rotation player until after we had Bowen. Maybe if we have Bell, we don't spend our offseason 04 on Barry and we get frontline help, then no longer need to trade two firsts for Nazr.

Wow. We traded two firsts for Nazr?! Crazy how much less draft picks were valued. And that's from the Spurs FO no less.

It was to dump off Malik Rose's stupid ass contract, too.

Malik + #30 in 2005 and #29 in 2006.

#30 was David Lee
#29 was Marty Collins, who sucked, but could have been Millsap.

Nazr was pretty important to that 2005 title run, so I think it was probably worth it. We needed a big guy to bang down with Ben Wallace and Sheed. Rasho was worthless. If our centers in that Detroit series was Rasho and Malik Rose, we don't win that series.

Yea. That game 7 block in the 4th before he was subbed out was a thing of beauty.

https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/1/8/22220471/demar-derozan-spurs-trade-free-agency

Article about DeRozan's transformation. Basically says his value is as high as it's ever been and he will have a lot more options as he's evolved his game by finally adding 3 point shot as the final step.

I have a feeling that we won't be able to keep him and that he will end up chasing a ring somewhere (likely LA). Mentions Boston as a possible trade deadline destination due to their trade exception. Will be interesting to see where the Spurs stand in two months.

We don't win the title in 2005 with Nazr.

Since Demar came to the Spurs I cannot remember a player who has gotten hammered in the paint so many times and not get a call.
