If I'm not mistaken, I believe the Spurs currently have the 12th lottery position unless Charlotte makes the playoffs, in which case the Spurs would move up to 11th (assuming the Spurs don't make the playoffs).

I don't know if it will happen but I think the Spurs really need to draft the best scorer/shooter available. They have good defenders and decent shooters but the offense is inconsistent. If they can get someone in free agency great but I don't see that happening. This will be an interesting off-season for sure.

Like everything else about this team, we're very inconsistent. However, there are lineups we can put out there that are more than capable of getting stops and causing havoc on the defensive end. We do not have the firepower to put any combination of 5 guys out there that can just out score people.

I really hope Samenic turns into a player and I like Vassell. But man oh man if the Spurs took Thybule instead of Samenic and then went with Halliburton over Vassell I would be even happier.

The problem was always that the culture could get one of them to play defense (ie Aldridge surrounded by Duncan, Manu, Pop, etc), but when the three biggest stars are guys who don't actually care about defense and love bad midrange shots you're always going to be good enough to stay out of the lottery but never good enough to contend.

LMA was a plus defender before he started hobbling. I agree on Derozen. Hes a ball stopping, complaining, no defense playing dude. Hes incredibly talented but he doesn't fit.

Like what? best case is a 2nd round pick. Everything I heard was team wanting the Spurs to take back a player on a multiyear contract. The tricky thing about NBA trades is sometimes getting something back is worse than just releasing the player.

There are a lot of teams that needed the skills he demonstrated last year as a 18/7 player with range. All the insiders said the Spurs overplayed their hands and demanded too much.

Trading him for a 2nd rounder would have been more value than we got from him this year.

There were a lot of rumors of #11 and LMA for #2 + Wiggins. The rebuild would have been a ton better with Wiseman or LaMelo and Wiggins. Sure, Wiggins is way overpaid, but he was still a 19/5 guy on 48/38 this year.

At least we didn't take back a long term salary so we can save all that cap space only to not sign a star player in free agency with it.

We are cruising to be doomed to the 7-12 spot in the league for a long time unless we somehow get the lucky lottery ball to drop.

I was lamenting this Samenic pick over both Thybulle and Clarke. Then I looked up their ages. Thybulle and Clarke are both 24. Luka is still only 21.

He needs to bust his ass to prove this FO right.
