In 24 mins no less.

I didn't see the game but it looks like Aldridge only put up one three. Maybe it's better for him to get pick and pops from his spots.
He looked like his old self for a change. He was hitting those little mid-range jumpers and couldn't miss. Had 8 points in the first 6 minutes.

Vassell played 26 minutes and did some good things while he was on the floor. He had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists and played some good defense.

Sean Elliott was analyzing his shooting form and talked about when Vassell shoots the ball, it's high, making it hard for the defender to block his shot. He also gave credit to the GM for getting the young talent.

Spurs tied for 5th in the West
And going into Golden St which is a very winnable game. Of course Steph could go off at any time but he is the only real scoring threat they have.

Spurs have done pretty well with most of their draft picks and Vassell looks to fit that as well.

A shame we wasted that #19 on Darko Luka.

The eurotrash we picked up in 2015 is actually pretty good, but he said the spurs never wanted to bring him over.

KOC talked to some executives and some thought the Spurs could be a dark horse for Bradley Beal with the young assets that we have. Would be nice if we also hit on #19 last year to give us even more trade assets. But if we had to give up a couple of our young guys and a couple firsts for him you'd at least have to entertain the idea. Not enough years on his contract though imo.

As long as Keldon isn't one of the young guys we ship out, I wouldn't hate it. He's really going off this season.

Yea I think Keldon should be the only untouchable player we have.

Pop wants to make the playoffs this year. Trading away the vets would be counterintuitive to that. Not only because vets tend to win more, but this year in particular teams with depth will pick up several wins over teams that are playing short handed.

I think Gay has been great off the bench for the Spurs. I think everyone underestimates the value of having veteran leaders who are willing to take a role like this. Thats why I think the only way LMA or Gay get traded is if they ask for one.

Luka, LaMarcus, and Murray for Beal.

Gay's numbers are pretty similar to last year's with worse shooting percentage. I don't think trading him for a draft asset would make or break this team's playoff chances.

I have seen Beal play on occasion but I have to admit I haven't seen him much. I'm genuinely curious how Beal would be that much different than Demar? Is he the type of player that you could build a team around and push for a championship?

I'll hang up and listen.

IMO he's in that secondary class of NBA stars, similar to Derozan. Not good enough to just carry the team by himself, but with the right cast of guys around him could be a contender. He's a super talented scorer with a much better outside game and younger than Demar. I don't think he's a lockdown defender by any stretch but it's also not hard to be a better defender than Derozan.

If you swapped the two right now, idk that it really makes that much of a difference on our win/loss. But he's younger (27) and still has a couple years left on his contract. We'd certainly be a better situation for Beal than Washington is currently.

Probably not. But he has embraced the veteran leadership role and mentoring all these young guys. Why lose that for when this years record isn't going to suffer either way? If we all agree the focus should be this young corp then its not only about playing time. Having older guys in the locker room will excellerate their growth.

Except he's been hitting timely shots off the bench for us. He's been in our system for a while. There's continuity there. He's also long and can be a decent defender in the right match up. He isn't a lockdown guy by any means, his age is showing, but a guy with Rudy's length will always give other players fits.

So I disagree with you here. Trading Rudy means you're getting rid of the only guy off our bench that can create his own shot. Even when DW comes back and LWIV likely moves back to the bench, Lonnie can't create yet like Rudy can. So, in my opinion, if we moved Rudy we would likely miss the playoffs.

I really like what Jakob has done the last 2 games. 3 blocks in both games, 13 and 11 points, active on the offensive boards and really moving and hustling on both ends of the court. I don't have any delusions that he wil be a star but he can be a productive contributor when he is on his game.

Yeah, he basically took all of LMAs 4th quarter minutes against Houston. Post game a reporter asked Pop why LMA sat and Pop just said "Lamarcus struggled with Houston's switching".

Poeltl is better at rolling to the basket and he's a much better rim protector.

Meanwhile, Lyles has has seen very few minutes lately and that is a good thing. He has struggled to figure out who he is. He can rebound with the best of them and he's a mobile big who should be effective in P&R defense. However, he also thinks he's a dynamic offensive player, which he's not. The bad shots and turnovers will keep him on the bench.

Not sure he would do much more than sit on the bench but who knows. Would probably be an upgrade over Eubanks.

Good article talking about the success Murray, Walker, and Johnson are having this season when on the floor together as opposed to when Derozan or Aldridge are paired with them. The difference in the +/- per 100 possessions is pretty staggering.

Should be an interesting game tonight with Golden st. They don't have a great team but they do still have Steph. Plus it's a 9:00 start. I'm getting too old for these West Coast games!

That article just proves what we all see; Aldridge has got to go. In the graphic of the +/- of the three young guys, it's negative when Aldridge is on the floor with them.

Not only that, why didn't the front office ship one or both off in the offseason (outside of Pop's arrogance)?

Hell, could have shipped them out for a pair of second rounders before the draft and come out ahead, from the looks of things.

+31 when Pop used to use +/- to defend giving some of his super scrubs big minutes.

Just a bad night all around. Keldon had his worst game of the year, and the Spurs shot 4-33 from 3. Tough to win, or even be competitive, when you're shooting the ball so poorly.

Maybe it was by design. We aren't shooting the three ball great this year.
