Apparently he is refusing workouts for teams higher up than us.

A real steal would be if we trade back to 12 and still wind up with Burries. One of Burries or Flemings will probably be available if Ament, Yaxel, and Mara all go top 11.

Lots of chatter about Ament to the Nets growing. Would be massive for the Mavs. I'm sure BKN would love to trade back a few spots and still grab him, but I have a hard time seeing another mid-late lottery team jumping to this spot. Is #30 enough for the Mavs to move up from 9 to grab Wagler?

If Ament goes 6, draft night could be crazy. Don't think SAC would take Wagler, they'd still go Acuff or Flemings. Wagler makes sense on ATL. What if Wagler goes to ATL and Mara is still on the board at 9? Does OKC really want Mara and make you an offer you can't refuse?

Hope this all just isn't draft smoke screens as we're 3 weeks out lol.

I don't feel like a wagler /Daniels back court is that good for Atlanta. I feel like they need a more real point guard and I don't think that two combos is going to do the trick.

Atlanta seems to make really great and also really bad decisions at the same time so who knows what they'll do. They also need a sensor and I don't think a good one will be available for their last pick.

Man, I agree. It's so fun to think about the possibilities but also so pointless to think about lol.

The latest "credible" reporting I've heard from OKC is that Dort will be the odd man out. Wiggins/Joe will likely be dealt. Hart will likely be retained, either via picking up his option or a team-friendly-ish 3-4 year deal. Then Kenrich's option will be declined and try to bring back on a min deal. That would get them under the second apron for 26-27.

Sounds like Presti will try extend Cason but that wouldn't kick in until 27-28 if successful. Problem is that's when SGA's big raise kicks in. So either Hart or Caruso would likely have to be shed to stay under the second apron in 27-28.

Getting back to the Mavs angle... I say all that because a logical move for OKC in advance of the 27-28 crunch would be to draft Mara and pickup Hart's option for 26-27 with the intention of letting him walk after the season. I don't really like the "value" of trading 12 and 17 for 9... given that there will be prospects I like alot at both slots. But if Presti needs a cheap backfill for Hart longer term, it might be the right play to move up and ensure he gets Mara.

I dunno. I feel like the "traditional" Presti move would be to chill at 12 and catch whoever slips. Like you said, Flemings or Burries could be sitting there if things break right. But if OKC extends Cason, that's three smaller guards playing alot of minutes (Ajay, McCain and Cason). Not ideal to mix in another one if part of the goal is to better matchup with the Spurs big guards/wings. Plus Topic will need the ball in his hands more. There's not a ton of room in the backcourt.

No idea why Brooklyn would trade back, likely for an additional pick or picks, when they took 5 first rounders last year and kept them on the roster. But it's the Nets so who the **** knows what they'll do . Something dumb for sure

If Wagler is still available for the Mavs at 9... My word...

No reason other than it's just smart business if you can pick up another bite at the apple and still get your guy you wanted a few spots later.

But you're right that because they are dumb, they will probably just take Ament at 6. If Brooklyn is trying to trade back then that sends a strong signal they are looking at Ament. Or they are confident Acuff will still be available at wherever they move back to.

This second half is entirely about one team being led by a bunch of vets and the other being a bunch of kids. The moment looks to be a bit much for the Spurs right now.

Wemby looks like the kid who is taller than everyone else but not better.

I'm sure this means he'll go off from here. But he's awkward and not polished. He gets by on his freakish size.

When Wemby gets tired he looks like one of the most awkward players you'll ever see. Arms and legs just all over the place.

I still think they eventually figure it out and win the series. The The Knicks rely so heavily on Brunson being a hero late in games.

Agreed. I don't think the spurs look young. More so that they look like they are playing a new team after going 7 with the best team in the league. And they are just missing shots.

While I don't completely disagree, in today's landscape of college sports that is increasingly an S show, I don't think anything is off the table. Pro Sports are just so much more consistent and I think that is appealing to a lot of people.

I don't disagree there....just not for these 2 guys. Dusty I could see being much more drawn to NBA over Scheyer though. Michigan is a powerhouse, but Duke is Duke. He still has to put up with plenty of NIL nonsense, but that's probably the one place that's immune to it more than any other. And, Duke bball money is no issue.

People are starting to come around on the fact that Acuff is not a guy you can just cover for. He's a Cam Thomas-level meme-able defender and in the conversation for worst defender in the league.

I wonder if we hadn't taken forever to fire Kidd if we could have picked up Sean Sweeney. Or Michael Malone.

I'll croak if we end up with a college coach or Doc Rivers.
Tksymm7

It won't be Doc Rivers. He's been pretty open on podcasts and what not that he's more than likely done. He's said he wants to enjoy family time and basketball as a fan. The Milwaukee ride took it out of him pretty good I think.

I do think he would be interested in a front office position, but not coaching anymore.

I don't think he necessarily wanted to take that Milwaukee job but they offered him so much money. How do you turn that down?

Nah, Kidd was out with plenty of time to get Sweeney. If he really wanted to be here and we really wanted him to be here, he'd be here.

That young Spurs team going to MSG is going to be like walking into a buzzsaw. Maybe they can steal G3 if the Knicks get careless, but hard to see that happening.

Mild NBA (Knicks) fan here. Just a question, how is the in-state rivalry between the Texas NBA teams? Is there a fair amount of competitive animosity similar to the Astros-Rangers in baseball? Worse, better? Just curious.
