It's not a surprise that Trae Young will decline his player option for 2026-27 and seek a multiyear deal in free agency. But it would be a surprise if he doesn’t remain with the Washington Wizards. The Wizards have the clear inside track there.

Hard to believe the Raptors GM would draft a long wing
The Mavericks are open to moving down in the draft, per @JakeLFischer.

If Aday Mara is available at No. 9, the Thunder should be considered strong candidates to trade up into Dallas’ spot to select the Michigan center. Mara has been heavily linked to OKC through various reports.

Feels like Burries or bust. They take him if he's there, or they move back if he isn't

I'll be curious if Wagler falls to 6 or 7 if the Mavs wouldn't trade up. I have no clue but wonder if that's an option.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are finalizing a trade to send guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks for two second-round picks (Atlanta's in 2030 and the least favorable of Hawks/Lakers in 2032), sources tell ESPN. pic.twitter.com/ypffJ3jMOk

BREAKING: University of Michigan coach Dusty May has agreed to become the new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell me, @AdamSchefter, @PeteThamel. Major college-to-pro jump for the 2026 NCAA championship coach and swing for the Mavericks and Masai Ujiri. pic.twitter.com/rwlwhRtNfo

A huge swing, and now you have to think perhaps Yaxel is in play.

Minor trade, but really gets OKC off the hook as far as roster restrictions. Doesn't help OKC if they're trying to get under the 2nd apron, but who knows what they are trying to do.
Makes sense that it's a team from the east, because it's a pretty small return for a helpful trade.
Good deal for the Hawks, they get better.

I don't think this tips the scale towards a Michigan player, but more so says that the Mavs have probably liked the Michigan players from the get go. You wouldn't just move your draft board around based on hiring their coach 36 hours before the draft.
