Doesn't hurt remotely as much as game 6 2013. Not even close.

One thing from the Mavs perspective that I am grateful for and wasn't at the start of the playoffs; having Coop, Gafford, and Lively (and perhaps Cissa more next year) all being 6'9" to 7'1". Watching the Spurs in particular and their lack of impact height outside of Wemby just kills them at times. And if anything so Wemby can get a longer break than legitimately one minute increments at time. Also because Wemby is a guard in an aliens body at times. They have no one to play with Wemby who's a real big. No one to help run actions with Wemby off the ball an so on.

Watching these playoffs has increased my desire to potentially hold onto Kyrie and Gafford in particular.

I know alot of you seem to admire the Spurs but I'm so happy right now. I can't even imagine how Knicks fans feel but as a Mavs fan this is so satisfying. Wemby's performative bull**** (the monk school, the walking barefoot at MSG to 'ground himself', the sketching in the park, the 'im in your head' only to absolutely CHOKE game sealing free throws...). Blowing the largest lead in NBA Finals history. This is porn to my hater heart.

Yeah, Wemby has quickly fallen in love with the smell of his own farts. F the Spurs

I think most of us here are Mavs fans who just enjoy talking basketball.

Cisse is awesome and needs more playing time. There's no version of the team that is good without Lively, so we need him to be healthy. I hope we can bring Bagley back at something under $10 million. He's extremely effective and if he's a shooter now also then he's extremely valuable.

I just think Gafford is a little overvalued due to him being on the finals team. He was far less impactful than Lively in the playoffs and he's probably overpaid for a backup center who can't space the floor. I think he's more valuable to us as a trade asset than a backup/rotational big. Gafford had some moments last year but we saw what a bigger role does for his production and impact.

We could also draft another big at 30, or possibly Johnson in a trade back. These rotation centers are relatively easy to find.

Gafford is just paid to much is my only gripe. If you were paying him 10-12, then I think it's good value for a backup C, but 18+ is a lot.

until Lively plays 1 full season, Gafford is the starter

We need Lively so be healthy in the worst way. I think we've forgotten what his upside is because he hasn't played or played healthy in what feels like two years.

I was also cheering for the Knicks considering how long they have gone without a championship, plus the Spurs look poised to win multiple championships in the next few seasons anyways.

I will say this though, some of the Knicks fan behavior has way crossed the line. There are videos of them throwing objects at Wemby, physically assaulting people wearing Spurs jerseys on the streets (they did that to Philly fans too). Just psycho behavior, would be some karma to blow a 3-1 lead after that.

That's fair, but what is the upside of this team if Gafford is the starter? If Lively is hurt, this team isn't doing anything of import, so we may as well be playing Cisse and whoever else we may end up with in the draft.

Additionally, I think Cisse is just a better backup center than Gafford. Cisse is an absolute menace in the 15ish minutes a game role where he can just hustle his butt off and beat the opposing center up and down the court while being a strong rebounder and rim protector. That's before considering cost.

If Gafford's primary on-court value is Lively insurance, then I think he's more valuable as a trade asset to improve the overall roster.

Ya of course the fan behavior is egregious but no one will remember that after this season is over. If SA wins, I'll always have to be reminded they won the 2026 finals and see ANOTHER banner in my lifetime for that franchise. I can't abide that lol

The Spurs have usually been a fun " backup" team for me to root for while Cuban and Donnie were farting around and wasting the post 2011 finals years of Dirks career. Donnie was a good scout, but a terrible GM and Cuban kept him way too long.

The Duncan, Ginobli, Parker team was likeable and easy to root for post 2011. I hated them before 2006 when we would usually have the 2nd best record in the conference and be relegated to the 4th seed because we shared a division with the spurs. The NBA thankfully changed that rule.

I have a simple question for you guys. Have the Mavs ever had a center as good as david robinson? Tim duncan? Or victor wembanyama? Thats a hell no. The spurs got them all #1 overall. Nobody else had a shot at those guys.

The last straw for me was when the Spurs got the #2 overall pick during the same draft we got Cooper Flagg. Honestly, it ruined the draft for me because I knew they were going to add another Stud to that team.

This finals series has beem enjoyable, but sobering as a mavs fan. We lost Brunson for 2 chic fil a sandwich wrappers and Harper is dominating. Harper would have gone #1 overall in a lot of drafts, he just had the misfortune of being drafted in the same year as Flagg.

Yeah the Scheyer and May stuff always seemed exploratory, at best, and was made out to be more.

I'm fine taking a shot on a rising assistant.

Refs doing everything they can to give this game to the Spurs, just like all series. How that wasn't a flagrant on Wemby is absurd.

And Wemby has been elbowed twice in the face in this game with no call on either one.

These refs are so inconsistent. They look to favor the spurs 1 minute. Then call 2 quick ones on them for stuff they let slide earlier.

Officials have been horrendous all series. San Antonio has gotten away with murder. Go back to your echo chamber.

Sorry I said something that was true that didn't work with your rage watching.

But yes, I agree the officiating has been atrocious.

Hard for me to feel super bad for the Knicks in this game when they called out of bounds on Castle last game with 1 minute left when he wasn't out of bounds and the NBA admitted it was a foul on Hart that pushed him NEAR the line.

Then OG absolutely fouled Fox on that layup that Fox shouldn't have taken.

It should have been a flagrant on Wemby. Extremely clear violation of the rule. But I'm sorry that made you so upset.
Guitarsoup
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I'm not upset, but you sure seem to be. I agree it should have been. So should the two times Wemby was elbowed in the face with no call.

To say the refs are giving this game to SA just like they have all series is beyond ridiculous when they literally made multiple bad calls in the last minute that gave game 4 to the Knicks.
Vinny
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Definitely should have been a flagrant on Wemby but the league doesn't want their big boy to get disqualified for game 6.

I think they just sucked on it. They can still give him the flagrant tomorrow (if needed)

Let's relax a bit. I think this series has been really poorly officiated in all fronts.
AggieSportsGuy

I agree on the officiating, the league clearly refuses to punish Wemby, and the Spurs are allowed to pretty much do whatever they want defensively with no repercussions.
