Beautiful play by Harper. And despite the significant contact by Brunson while not set, there is no foul called.

That's pretty interesting. If Sarr, AD, Bilal, KyShawn can provide enough defense, and they are all healthy, they could be halfway decent in the East.

11. San Antonio Spurs (via ATL)

Koa Peat | 6-8 wing | 19 years old | Arizona

Peat is a fascinating player who prompts a wide range of opinions from NBA scouts. On the plus side, he's the second-leading scorer (behind freshman teammate Brayden Burries) for a top-five team in the country. Peat has also won everywhere he's been and is one of the most decorated players in the class from that perspective. He's averaging 13.7 points while shooting 54 percent from the field and is a tough, physical rebounder on a team that features guys like Motiejus Krivas and Tobe Awaka, both of whom are elite rebounders. He passes well and makes excellent decisions to keep his team in the flow of the offense, be it in short rolls out of ball screens or on the wing. Peat knows his role and plays it exceedingly well, and he has been an excellent mismatch shot creator for an awesome team.

Yet, the flaws jump off the page. He's not really a shooter, as he's only taken 18 3-point attempts and made six of them while hitting just 61.9 percent of his attempts at the foul line basically in line with his averages at lower levels. Defensively, he's not overly fast, and there are possessions when you see him get beaten laterally by quicker players. I don't see him falling outside of the top 20 on draft night he does too many things too well but he's more polarizing than you'd expect for a player who has had a largely successful year on a great team.

That 4:3 ratio highlight reel from the 90s was amazing. Good stuff NBC

I'd hope someone like Koa Peat isn't even on the Spurs board. At this point we just need to keep adding length and shooting and preferably you can find someone who has both qualities.

Toronto and Boston won championships running tons of long wings that could shoot. We have great guards now it's time to stack some more young wings and hope one of them turns into a star.

Yeah, I think we need a physical guy like Peat, but I don't think we need Peat as much as we need shooting.

All the PFs on the board this year have warts.

  • Yaxel is older than Paolo Banchero and is shooting ~30% from three.
  • Hannes is probably a center, not a PF and has low volume on shooting
  • Haugh is shooting under 34% from three, is 23yo and is only 215lbs.
  • Peat can't shoot
  • Lopez is shooting about 33% and doesn't have a single elite skill
  • Quaintance is injured and can't shoot
  • Cenac is at 33% from three (and falling) and has questions about his motor
  • Joshua Jefferson probably isn't quick enough to play PF.
  • Amari Allen is a SF that weighs 205.
  • Ament is a skinny SF and shooting 41/32.
With Lopez being ~225lbs and just 18yo, I can talk myself into him as a future 240lb PF with some dribbling, defense, and shooting. But do we want a guy that is going to be a project when we have a project in Carter? Lot of question marks with Lopez, but I think he comes closest to checking the boxes we need with size, strength, shooting, and connectivity.

But I can also see trading back and taking a smaller wing like Amari Allen or Cameron Carr who are better pure shooters.

What if we could grab an extra pick from Toronto to move back to 20 and still be able to get Allen, Carr, or Lopez and they move up so they can get Ngongba? Memphis has the Magic pick this year and maybe they want to move up to get Jayden Quintance to replace JJJ. Hawks have the Cleveland pick and I wouldn't mind abusing Midlanta for more assets.

I can get behind the idea of moving back and grabbing a lower ceiling guy who is closer to playing immediately.

It's a huge advantage to be 10 deep with legit NBA rotation players to make it through a 82 game season.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall for the discussions this year, I think it'll be interesting to know what the FO is thinking now that we're in a position to augment a winning roster for the first time in years.

I also think we might be a unique place for Lopez where we could let him develop and having a Mexican player on the team would generate a ton of local interest that could generate revenue if he becomes a contributor

Spurs are: 21-2 when Vassell shoots 40% or better from three.
Only losses: (Cleveland (no Wemby, Kornet, Castle) and Phoenix (No Wemby, Castle, Harper)

Spurs are 12-2 when Vassell makes 4+ threes.
Only losses: Cleveland (no Wemby, Kornet, Castle) and GSW (no Harper)

Kind of disappointed Wemby isnt in the top 10 in those attempts. Is it a physical or mental limitation or a combo of both?
