We are on the same page Sher.

It is very easy for me to get excited about the season. It may be unrealistic to come in expecting a Championship, but it is realistic to come in expecting a fun season watching some of the best players to ever play. Players like Kawhi and Green will be entertaining to watch as well.

Timmy and Manu only have so much time left. I can't wait to watch them on the court again. Also, Tony was incredible last year. Why can't he repeat his performance?

One more reason to get excited.... POP. We have the best coach in the league on our sideline. That is enough for me to tune in.

Did any of you guys notice bonners lack of playing time in the preseason (Blair too somewhat)? Trade coming? While he doesn't shoot the three ball at nearly as good of a clip, maybe diaw has made him somewhat expendable. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

If the only thing you get excited about is championships, then become a Heat fan. They'll be the favorites for the next few years no matter what the Spurs do.

That being said, the Spurs will have a great regular season record and if healthy have a puncher's chance in the playoffs.

Go Spurs Go. They aren't going to win the title, but they should be fun to watch.

We can only hope it means something. Hard to believe Pop gets over his infatuation with Bonner though. The guy has been in the league 7 years and has yet to performed well in the playoffs. The Spurs used to give guys one chance to perform when it mattered and if you didn't you were out. Not sure why they keep relying on Bonner when it's a known fact it wont work out.

In somewhat related news, the center position is being eliminated from the All-Star ballot. Maybe Timmy can milk one more appearence.

Won't take for granted getting to watch Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili play basketball for the Spurs

Nor will I.

These are probably the last few years of me paying attention to NBA basketball for that reason. I've watched the current Spurs team grow up and then grow old, and I'll watch them until they are all done. However the new NBA "superteam" fad is flat killing the game. I was really hoping for one last Spurs 'ship last year to show all the frontrunners that teamwork and building a team from the ground up still trumps acquiring talent via free agency and overpayment.

No doubt in my mind that Tony/Tim/Manu/Bowen of the mid-2000s would have taken down the Heat last year. They just don't quite have the same spring in their legs as they used to, and the Spurs are neither willing nor able to buy championships the same way the Celtics, Heat, Lakers and Knicks have done (or tried to do).

Just wait until the season starts so you can properly judge the effect of Morey's Super PF Team and the effect it has on basketball. Just wait.

The way the NBA is run is certainly frustrating at times. It's certainly a star driven league and it seems to be biased towards them at times. Saying that, once the new CBA is fully installed in the next couple years it should at least help eliminate some of these "super teams" that are so popular. The NBA definitely needs to do everything possible to level the playing field instead of having 3 teams each year that have a realistic shot at a title.

To be clear there is a big difference between the way the Heat built their roster and the way the Lakers built theirs.

The Lakers built the core of their current team through smart trades, not free agency. Any team could have done what the Lakers have. Jerry West was and now Mitch Kupchak is simply the best GM in the league.

Enzo,

Do you want to tell me why he's not? There are a lot of people around basketball and the media who will tell you the same thing.

No need hate homey. I've got nothing but respect for the Spurs organization.

Presti and Buford undoubtably have done more with less. Other than Bynum, what significant piece has Kupchak drafted? It's easy to be successful with Buss's checkbook at your disposal.

The Lakers don't subscribe to the suck to get good philosophy. We only hang championships in LA. He traded essentially nothing for Pau which got us two more championships. He brought in Nash and Howard and only gave up Drew this off-season. He would of had CP3 last season if not for Stern tampering.

Financially the Lakers are in great shape with Pau and Kobe contracts expiring in '14 to bring in Lebron and another big time player.

Lots of teams spend money. The Rockets would spend money, they just can't make the deals. You have to spend smart.

The Lakers make > $200 million/year on their new Time Warner TV deal. Credit to Buss for spending the money and not pocketing it.

In other news, Harden to Houston is a great thing for us. Replace Harden with Martin last year and the Spurs are in the finals. Harden killed us only to disappear in the finals.

The season hasn't even started and Manu is already ruled out for the first game with a bad back.

Yeah. Manu's health is a really big concern. Might as well sit him until all-star break. Kidding but not really.

I liked what I saw tbqh. Started off horrible but it's the first game. First quarter was horrible and the defense was non-existent and everyone looked asleep.

2nd quarter and on our defense looked a lot better and we played pretty well on that side of the ball. Offensively we are out of sync and rhythm but we will be just fine in that department.

Tony and Tim look fantastic. Both look poised to have great seasons once again.

Kawhi is just an animal all the way around. His defense is really good and when he's hitting his shot, he's perfect for this team.

Diaw had an average game but played well with Duncan down the stretch on that high-low game that sealed the deal. Everyone else was meh but there were some good and bad things from the rest.

Bonner not getting any time in the 2nd half was great to see.

While it wasn't pretty, it was a pretty clutch performance by some of the guys.

Reports out of camp were that they focused on defense. I think that was apparent mainly because the offense looked ragged. The defense tightened in the second half and won the game. It's nice to still have some clutch players to close out games like this.
