Really frustrating that two of the matchup between these nba finals previews have involved star players being sat for weak reasons. I would have thought the Heat would have relished the opportunity to be challenged against the second best team in the league, rather than play through injury against a hapless hornets team.
Dammit Bonner has to shoot that.

Ugh just a horrible situation/game. Those types of deals are really hard to understand.
Miami played good defense, but jesus we missed so many wide open threes in the first three quarters. If Cole doesn't get that gift at the end, we win the game. Bosh was hot tonight. Should be interesting to see if Tim plays tomorrow.
Lazy passes, wide open misses, late/bad rotations all night = no focus.
That's exactly what happens when teams are missing their stars and you saw it again tonight. The Spurs just weren't there mentally. Sucks because we are playing for the 1 seed but it really doesn't mean anything.

This is stupid. The Spurs sent home half their team and almost beat the full Heat squad in Miami. It didn't mean anything, and neither does this game.

And I'm sure what contract extension talks were supposedly taking place are probably stalling.
I mean tbh I wouldn't resign him for the rumors 7-8M per season but these injuries are really hurting his value so if he wants to sign on for a way discounted rate of like 4 or 5 mil per season then I would do that. That doesn't necessarily handcuff the Spurs in regards to other free agents and stuff.
I'm sure the Spurs are being cautious with that estimation just like they were with Tony. Manu would have to have a broken leg to keep him from playing in the playoffs so I think he will be back some time right before round 1.

I'm not so upset that Manu is out, except that Neal's defense is so bad that he throws off the whole team. I wish they hadn't invested so much time in trying to get Manu in a rhythm; De Colo, Joseph, or Mills could have used the playing time.

Manu's play making ability will be hugely missed. His scoring and shot have been horrendous this season but he runs the entire second unit with his abilit to run the p&r and find people. Nobody has that kind of playmaking ability outside of Parker. De Colo is the closest thing but he isn't close either.
Neal is going to have to play and he better start hitting his jumper because he's absolutely useless if his shot isn't going in.

I agree, but this is about the 6th straight season where counting on Manu to run the second unit hasn't worked out. I gave up on that years ago; that's why I would have liked to see De Colo or Joseph getting more minutes, or maybe Leonard spending more time as the primary option with the second unit. He's turning into a tough cover even if it's mostly iso plays rather than P&R, and it would be good to get him more touches. Star in the making.

We seriously shouldn't play Neal so much.
I would almost say play Joseph in place of Neal for defense alone. But we need someone who can create their own shot off of the bench while Manu is out.
Unfortunately you have to play Neal with Manu out.
I agree that I hope the Spurs stop putting all their eggs in one basket when it comes to Ginobili and the second unit and I think this is the last year you will see that.
Saying that, I think De Colo has gotten plenty of playing time this season and can step in at any time and play his game. You didn't suggest bringing Leonard off the bench did you? Lol. Just no.

We have to realize that once the playoffs start guys like Parker and Leonard will play closer to 38-40 minutes a game when it matters so it isn't like we are going to go through huge long stretches without Parker or Duncan on the floor.

We really need to do some fast break drills in practice. They have been the difference in a couple of these recent games.
Yea that hurts. They should just play inside out from here on out.
Of course I'm not suggesting that Leonard should come off the bench, but it would make sense to extend his minutes so that he plays more with the second unit since he is able to create his own shot and young enough to play a lot of minutes consistently. That also means Duncan might play more with some of the other guards who need more help defense.

I know he carries our team, but I question Parkers shots at times. Matty was WIDE open.
I don't know why the Spurs don't let Bonner shoot more wide open 3's. He shoots over 40% from 3.
Up until last night, he really hasn't gotten the playing time.
