Well Denver wins tonight but I expect this series to be over on Thursday night

The longest layoff we had in last year's playoffs was 7 days. If GS wins on Thursday, it will be the same.

I think that was between 1st and 2nd round again last year right? Not much of a hangover there last season so hopefully it works out the same way.

Yea it was between the first and second. There were 6 days between the 2nd and 3rd.

Looks like Game 1 is Monday for sure:

The more I watch the Grizzlies the less I understand why Gasol got DPOY. Not that he isn't a good defender because he is, but he's Tim Duncan without the shot blocking or rebounding. I might disagree with a guard or whoever ended up with the most blocked shots, but at least there would be a strong argument. It doesn't make sense to give the award to a poor man's Tim Duncan when regular Tim Duncan is available.

I'm guessing that having Tony Allen, Mike Connolly, and Tayshaun Prince around him had a lot to do with it, as did the contrast between Gasol and the rest of Memphis's bigs defensively.

I know the minutes argument was one of the biggest factors when people are comparing Gasol to Duncan but Duncan is easily the best/most important defender to his team this season. If the coaches/players voted I think TD would have won. The media is clueless when it comes to these things.

Gasol is a great 1 on 1 post defender and I will give him that.

Definitely a minutes thing.

Trying to preserve Timmy at his current level till the end of his new contract - I am cool with that!

Spurs swept the Clippers in round 2 after 7 days' rest. Let's hope the same happens this year.

Hard to believe Spurs had gone 10-0 in the playoffs last year before they lost 4 straight...

The Clips would have to win the series first to repeat the sweep.

This post-season is setting up nicely for the Spurs.

I think whoever comes out of the Denver/GS series is going to be worn out and are going to hit a buzz saw with the rested Spurs. I think the Spurs will win in 5, especially if they get Golden State.

I think OKC is going to have their hands full with Memphis (who I think closes out the Clips). I really wouldn't be surprised to see Memphis knock OKC out. They are tough down low and play good D. Either way that is going to be a tough series for whoever makes it to the WCF.

I would love to see the Spurs play the Heat in ther Finals. I think that series would go 7 games and would be the best matchup possible.

Meant a second round sweep. Of anyone.

Agree on the hope of another 2nd round sweep for the Spurs. If the Thunder-? matchup goes for more than 5 games, maybe we would want the Spurs to drop a game and win the series in 5 so that we aren't rusty going into the WCF.

Thunder and Grizzlies would be a good series to watch.

I too think Memphis ends up knocking OKC out.

A Spurs/Memphis WCF would be the ultimate revenge series for the Spurs. Hope it happens.

I still think OKC has a great shot at the WCF. Memphis won't be able to push around OKC's bigs nearly as easily.

Memphis worries me more than OKC without Westbrook. After Timmy and Splitter, our bugs would be eaten alive by Memphis IMO.

You see Baynes put on a defensive clinic against Howard?

Baynes won't get any playing time with Diaw and Splitter back.

I do love Baynes, but I agree with Enzo, I don't see him getting too much playing time. He's useless on offense right now.

We would have home court vs MEM and not vs OKC. That's definitely something to take into account.

Duncan-Splitter-Diaw can hold their own against Randolph and Gasol. We also didn't have Leonard who will average close to 7-8 boards a game in that series IMO if we were to matchup. We are much better prepared now than we were in 2011.

Manu is healthy. Timmy is healthy. Splitter is better. The Spurs have Diaw. Leonard is here. These are all improvements since the last time the Spurs played Memphis, and it was still a 6 game series last time, not a blowout. Spurs should beat Memphis.
Ulrich

As far as everyone else, I think the Spurs kick the crap out of LAC or DEN because they only have one creator on offense each. Memphis will take it to 6 because of their defense and toughness. GSW will take it to 6 because Curry/Jack/Landry/Thompson are all very capable of getting hot.

I still think we play the Thunder in the WCF.
Ulrich

Oh yeah. The Thunder. They are still very dangerous. Losing Westbrook reduces their number of offensive weapons, but puts the ball in Durant's hands more. And their defense is great. I think that's a 7 game series, but we've still got to see how the Thunder play without Westbrook.
Sher Thing

OKC is still dangerous and they would have home court vs the Spurs. They will be without Westbrook and Harden compared to last year though. If the Spurs are healthy and that continues to be the big "if" than I just don't see OKC being able to beat us without those two guys.

Honestly, Bogut worries me the most about this series.

It'll be interesting to see how we play small ball against these guys. Didn't do it too well against the Thunder last year, but two entirely different teams.
Sher Thing

AG
Yeah, I don't see Durant, Harden and Westbrook on that team
Sher Thing

Bogut is a great 1 on 1 pots defender but he is pretty bad at pick and roll defense. Spurs should be able to handle him alright. If we can get him in foul trouble that would be big as well.

Not worried about him on offense. He will get his 2 or 3 dunks per game.
