Looking at OKC right now, seems like we'd have no shot if we made it to the conference finals... but then I remember how good SA was in the playoffs last year and after game 1 against OKC people were already saying that it was over and SA would win it all.

OKC has been hot for a few weeks now and hopefully they keep smoking through this series and the next... just in time to start cooling off for the hopefully catching fire Spurs. Wishful thinking perhaps!

It could definitely happen if the Spurs get back in Jan-Feb form.

Spurs apparently tried to sign Nocioni before we signed McGrady.

Yeah, Interesting.

Same thing. Probably rather have McGrady.

quote:
“He’s a mentally unique individual in that he’s able to sustain the year-round workout regimen, both physically and (diet) wise,” Popovich said of Duncan’s resurgence. “He has an unbelievable feeling of responsibility for his place in the program and wants to sustain that performance that he brings night after night.”

“When he doesn’t think he can, he’ll stop. It might be in the middle of a game. I can see him walking off the court saying, ‘Nah, I’m not pulling my weight anymore. I’m gone.’ And he’ll walk. And I’ll be right behind him, like this. No pride, no nothing.”

I recall Pop saying he'll coach until he get's sick of it. And I think he's even hinted at staying past the Duncan era.

He's always said he'd be done when TD is done but if you guys remember, Greg Papa (GSW announcers) had a great sit down interview with Pop back in 2011 where Pop was pretty open to the idea of coaching after TD if he where to leave soon. Not sure Pop envisioned at that time Duncan signing a new 3 year deal at 36 though.

I think they are all pretty much going from season to season at this point and nothing more.

It'll be a sad day when we lose both TD and Pop. One of the best player/coach duos in NBA history. Up there with MJ and PJ.

Just bumping because I can't wait for the next round to start.

Also, we would have played today if we hadn't swept the Lakers.

Pivotal game in Denver tonight in terms of how much rest Spurs'll get. A Nuggets win tonight gets us an extra 2 days.

So if GS wins tonight we would play Friday?

Or are you saying if Denver wins tonight the earliest we play is Tuesday?

The NBA usually likes to start all of the second round around the same time meaning that they will likely try and wait until LAC/MEM gets a little further as well. I'm not saying they will wait for it to end but most likely wait until after game 6 of that series.

If GS wins tonight then I would say Friday is the absolute earlier the series will start but I would still bet on Saturday. If the series goes 6 games then I would say the Series starts Sunday and if it goes 7 games then Monday or Tuesday.

I'm saying if Denver doesn't win tonight, series over and round 2 could start as early as Thursday for the Spurs. A Denver win forces a game 6 on Thursday and buys us another 2 days at least, since NBA doesn't generally give team back-to-backs after a series win.

Actually I'd be surprised if the series started before Saturday. Even if GS wins tonight.

I would say Saturday - Tuesday depending on how far it goes.

I don't see the NBA starting a second round series with LAC and MEM not even playing a game 6 yet.

I'm sure you're right. Just operating under the "absolute worst case scenario" mentality.

If this site can be trusted, it says the May 6-7.

I don't see why it can't Ganon. Nice find. I could see the NBA moving up the dates on that if all of the first round gets done early but other than that I would expect the 2nd round to start around then.

Ah, didn't know that was officially scheduled already. Then this is a moot point unless GS/Denver goes 7 games. The NBA's probably already got game 1 scheduled for Monday the 6th.

Regardless, we should still be rooting for a DEN win tonight. These teams are using up a lot of energy right now and we want the series to keep going.

I would argue the series going 6 might actually benefit us more than it going 7. It would give the Spurs more time to watch video and prepare for the Warriors, knowing their opponent a bit earlier, and at a certain point, rust starts setting in if the break is longer than a 7 or 8 days.

But that's just my $0.02.

Saw this on spurstalk.

Dan McCarney ?@danmccarneysaen4h
Pop said Boris went through full practice, should be available to start the next round. Tiago "is going to take a little bit longer."

Dan McCarney ?@danmccarneysaen4h
Prepare yourself, Spurs fans: Tracy McGrady also went through a full practice.

Mike Monroe ?@Monroe_SA4h
Spurs won't play again until May 4, at earliest, per NBA official

I think by the time we reach the western conference finals, were going to be 90-100% healthy.

Tiago will be fine for game 1 of round 2. Especially if Denver wins tonight.

If we play GS, we won't need Splitter as much.

This Denver/Golden State game is enjoyable. I like watching lambs battle it out before they're slaughtered.

If Golden State wins tonight. Spurs vs. Warriors will be Saturday at 7:30 or 8:30. If Denver wins Game 1 will be Monday at the earliest.

Look like if GS wins game 6 then round 2 starts Monday if it goes 7 games then round 2 starts Tuesday.

Hope Denver holds this lead. More rest is what the spurs need.
