Horrible execution in the end. Manu still a shell of himself. Parker's stat line is fools gold.

Spurs with the 4th quarter meltdown. What a weird game that was.

I wonder what's up with Neal's lack of PT in the last two games.

I was wondering this, too. Would have been nice to be able to send him in for Manu in the 4th.

Manu played like garbage for the most part, and Parker hit the wall midway through the 4th quarter. Can't complain too much at 19/6/11 and no turnovers, and most of Splitter's 4th Q buckets came on passes from Parker, but Parker bricked 3 easy shots in the second half of the quarter when the Spurs needed a basket to stop the bleeding.

Splitter got worked by the ghost of Rasheed Wallace.

Couldn't hit threes... 8 of 29 is bad.

Encouraging things... gave a good team a good game, held Anthony in check, Duncan played well, Splitter finished most of his easy opportunities as long as Wallace wasn't in.

I aslo didn't understand why we were doubling Melo in the post. That just opened everything up for everyone else.

Pop stated in post game that Neal was dealing with a minor injury and that was why he didn't play.

On another note, Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss 10-14 days with quadriceps tendinitis in his left knee. He will miss the upcoming road trip so it looks like he will be out 8 games. Tough break for the Spurs.

Damn. He was playing well too. That's a huge loss.

Not much upside on this one, either. It's not like there is some rookie backing him up whao can use the pt, unless i've missed something.

Destroying Denver.

Hopefully this is Manu turning a corner. Or it could just be the Denver defense. I'm going with the latter.

Nice to see Manu get some points but I agree, probably more of the lack of Denver defense. Afterall, even the Suns beat Denver.

Stephen Jackson out 4-6 weeks with Fractured finger in shooting hand.

Without Jack and Leonard this upcoming stretch is going to be pretty difficult.

How is a non-displaced fractured pinky worth 4 to 6 weeks? I've done that 4 times (3 on shooting hand) and it has always been a "tape it up and get back in the game" type thing. Buddy taping makes it harder to palm the ball, but control and shooting aren't drastically affected. What am I missing here?

What are the refs doing in this game? This is horrible. Not that the Spurs deserve to be in this game, but still.

The Clips have earned some flopping fines in this game. Not sure why they are getting the home team treatment.

Someone should teach Splitter how to box out.

The Clippers are legit.

I am happy to see DeAndre Jordan blossuming into a very good player.

The People's Champ may be the MVP this year. He is the best PG in the league right now and it's not even close.

Well first off we were missing our two best perimeter defenders in a game that came down to getting stops in the half-court.

Saying that, the Spurs looked bad tonight and didn't deserve to win anyway. Surprised we were even in the game tbqh. Too many guys are playing soft right now. Including all of our bigs outside of Duncan. What's new right?

They are managing to run the offense poorly with everyone being unselfish. They either overpass out of open shots, or more commonly, try to create an open shot with one crazy difficult pass rather than multiple high percentage passes. Manu is the prime culprit, he just looks bad and he is telegraphing his dumbest passes. They don't work the ball around the court very well, the spacing is bad, and there just generally doesn't seem to be a whole lot of purpose to much of the activity. Every possession seems like a struggle, particularly compared to last year. Lots of turnovers and shots that might as well be turnovers.

The defense is good enough for early season and I think it'll get better, maybe even elite if they can land a real backup post before the trade deadline. Splitter is not the solution for defense or rebounding, but when Duncan is playing like this it erases a lot of problems on defense.

Overall, the team is playing hard and we know they can do better because they did it last year, but they are far from there yet. Hopefully by the end of the season they'll be back where they were on offense and better on defense, there is nothing that suggests they can't achieve those two things.

Agree Ulrich. I think what you are seeing is the team and Pop really making an effort to improve defensively over the off-season. Some of the new lineups he is trotting out suggests that as well. However much fun it was to see the "run n gun" Spurs of the last two seasons who played below average defense, that style of basketball wasn't going to win a championship. Pop realized that after last season and is now trying to find that balance between improving the defense and having an efficient offense. I think it was definitely a necessary change we had to make but it is going to come with some growing pains. These injuries aren't helping either.

Spurs interested in Pietrus. Might call up James Anderson. Per Marc Stein.

God, the ball movement is sooooo much better without Parker on the floor.

And of course Pop takes the lineup that was having success out of the game.
