He's pretty skilled but I'd rather the Spurs go in a different direction there.
There's a lot of good European prospects I could see the Spurs taking at 28 or 29. Karasev, Jateih and Adetokunbo are just a few.
As far as prospects go, The SG the Spurs drafted in 2011 Adam Hanga has shown great improvement the last couple years and I could see the Spurs bringing him over in a couple years.

As far as the health of the players go I'm not sure what to think. Obviously if Tony tells Pop he isn't right then Pop will sit him but Tony must be feeling better. It's certainly promising news.
As for Ginobili, Elliott said on the broadcast last game that Manu told him he had virtually no pain in his hamstring and they are just keeping him out for precautionary reasons. And then, Tony said on his radio show today that Manu told him that he's fine and plans to come back a couple games before the playoffs to regain some rhythm.
As far as the 1 seed goes, I think we all agree that health is the most important factor for the Spurs but with OKC losing last night, the Spurs are back in the drivers seat for the #1. Obviously that mixed with the inconsistent play the last few weeks has Pop wanting to try and get the Spurs out of this funk they have been in before the playoffs start.

I love seeing new Hanga highlights! He's a super athlete. It also looks like he's really worked on his jump shot. He may have the potential to be a complete player. But like you said, that's probably a year or two down the line.
Yeah, he is certainly our most promising prospect at the moment. Bertans is probably the only other realistic option way down the road.
Richards has really fell off a cliff and has been a disappointment.

Even after resigning Splitter and Manu the Spurs should still have close to 10-12M this summer to hand out. I'm not sure what there plans are with Neal and Jackson but those guys are going to be close to vet min contracts anyway.
The Spurs need to get a wing who can play both the 2 and the 3. Signing another big man who can help should be a priority as well.

Yea. Apparently Richards ended up being kind of a head case from what I read. You know he's not NBA material when he can't even make the England national team. And yea Bertans has also shown a lot of upside. It looks like he can get a shot off pretty easily from the highlights I've seen. Just needs to get stronger.

This should be a good game to give De Colo and Joseph a good playoff intensity test, the Spurs need TP healthy, Denver is an uptempo team that will force TP to go all out if he plays, and it will come down more to offensive rebounding and limiting turnovers than it will to Parker's play at PG anyway.

The Spurs ran out of gas. I'm surprised they didn't get blown out in the first half with that putrid lineup. Neal, Mills, Bonner, Blair, De Colo/Joseph is awful.
Pop is in full out paranoid mode right now. All he cares about his health. He didn't give a lick about that game last night and the lineups he was trotting out showed that. Can't blame him.
Just hope Denver doesn't jump us for the 2nd seed.
If the Spurs beat Sacramento on Friday then they clinch a top 2 seed.

I don't see the Spurs threatening for the West when they have to count on real minutes from Bonner and/or Blair. Those two vanish against playoff intensity. If the Spurs go small with the second unit, that would probably help. Splitter or Duncan with Jack/Leonard defending the 4 gives them a decent lineup against anyone but Memphis, LAL, or Utah.

Eff it. Play Baynes. At least he'll bring some toughness and crash the boards. But I think we will be okay in the first two rounds without Diaw.
I figure they'll get 38 minutes from Duncan/Splitter and play Baynes/Bonner/Blair/Jack/Leonard at the 4 depending on matchups. They should only need 10 minutes a game from Baynes, so he won't have to worry too much about foul trouble, and Bonner is serviceable on defense. Baynes should be getting a TON of practice on the pick and roll right now. Jack and Leonard can run with small ball lineups if necessary, either as the 3 and 4 or with just one at the 4 and Green at the 3.
