Trade for Kawhi. Sign him to a 1 year extension in the offseason. Sign Luka in '28 and give Kawhi a deal promoting Cirque Du Soleil and a $20 million deal to play 30 games. Use him as the laugh track for one of the shows.

I wonder how much Dean Wade will command in free agency. He's a big wing that Masai typically likes. Would fit as a 3/4 pairing with Coop and can backup Coop's 3 minutes.

Relatively average 3 point shooter in recent seasons but good defender and very impactful. He's also pretty injury prone. Plays between 50 and 60 games a year at about 20 minutes per game.

Not saying he could win it all. Not sure if he could. But they got worse from that trade no question. And we are talking about charlotte. They owe their fans the chance to see it play through. Not give him up for pick swaps 4 years from now.

What if Memphis gives them a first to take Ja Morant?

Basically trade Ball, Bridges, a the worst 1 of 4 teams' picks in 2029 for 3 unprotected firsts, a bunch of swaps, Naz Reid, Ja Morant, Grayson Allen, and Royce ONeale.

He's one of my main targets. I think he is going to be in the 6-8M range. About the Tax PayerMLE or slightly above.

Casuals don't like him because the raw numbers aren't impressive, but he's a fantastic defender and adequate shooter (37% career, 41% corner the last 3 years.)

Extremely impactful defender and good rebounder. This year he shot 45.5% from 3 when Mitchell was on the court and 46.9% when Harden was on the court. He was terrible from 3 without those guys on the court. If he has playmakers around him he's an excellent shooter.

He'll probably go play with Luka for a year on a discount and then cash in big next offseason after he shoots 42% all year...

I actually do think the Spurs sign Wade to be their PF.

I think the Lakers are going to keep Rui and are focused on a center because Ayton aint it. But everything with the Lakers hinges on what LeBron does. Current rumor tonight is the Warriors are trying to trade Butler for AD and bring LeBron in as well.

Then that's still a very very dumb trade by charlotte. I sure hope they aren't giving up ball for nothing bc they are getting ja. Ja has already proven he's a head case and can't win it all. And melo is younger and better.

Maybe melo is a bigger pain than we know. Again, that's the only thing that makes sense. But if he is, you aren't going after ja.

Yeah, adding Ja doesn't make sense if the reason is to dump the bad apples. But these moves have been pretty universally praised by everyone.

What I have seen some say is that the Hornets knew that run was fools gold and they were capped out with Ball.

They have a ton of money to spend, so what they do in the next few days will be interesting.

After sitting on it for a bit, and listening to Simmons and Lowe, I will concede that that these trades for Charlotte are an absolute homerun when you look at it over a five to seven year window. They received tremendous assets in return, got off of some money and then some. They also got off a player on a major upswing, so the value was good enough.

What I cannot agree on is Charlotte having gotten better next year or the year after that. I just do not see a world where you get rid of LaMelo and you get better. Not when the analytics are so, so strong in favor of him being the straw that stirred the drink. Unless they flip all of these assets for a real deal PG I just don't see them being all that good again next year.

1. They just spent the last 5 years mired in lottery purgatory to assemble a roster worthy of playoff contention and as soon as they get it, they blow it up for another reboot. If I'm a fan, I'm enraged they pulled the plug on what looked like a young core 5 that analytically hummed and didn't even give it a chance in 2026.

2. Tremendous assets? lol those swaps suck and the majority of them won't likely bear any fruit. The only real asset was the 2033 FRP....which, is forever away. Naz Reid is good but not better than Lamelo. So I really don't understand this trade at all from a competitive standpoint UNLESS they truly wanted out of the Lamelo business at any price (because this deal is all hat, no cattle imo).

EDIT: And don't get me wrong, **** Miles Bridges. If Charlotte wanted to change the culture of the lockerroom, I totally get these moves. I'm just talking from a purely 'hoops'/fan perspective.

I listened to the Russilo podcast from 6/25 on the way into work today and he had a reported from the Athletic on who covers Minnesota to talk about the LaMelo trade and he mentioned that the Timberwolves tried to get Kyrie but were turned down.

Thought that was interesting.

Someone on twitter said they were gentrifying the team lol. Yeah, from a basketball and roster construction standpoint, none of these moves make sense unless they are going to use some other capital to go get another high level creator. They were set to compete for top 6 in the East this year and now they'll probably be in the play in. The picks they got are fake and not valuable.

And anybody saying trading for Allen and O'Neale is a good move is living several years in the past. They aren't good anymore.

Bridges is an expiring contract and Allen+O'Neale make $30 million in '27-28. You got a pick in '33, but we have no idea what the lottery rules will be.

Like that we are taking offers for anybody not named Coop and like that we are turning stuff down that isn't a good deal.
