watch any news coming from Iran and about the Islamic Republic

the dictators and murderers are some of the ugliest apes on the planet

the Iranians who live in the diaspora and are against the Islamists are some of the most beautiful people on the planet.

coincidence?

I think not.

Very sad. Good follow though.

For perspective…There were just under 50K American combat deaths in Vietnam.

An AI placed the bet. The same AI has also hacked into the Iranian missile launch system and in a few hours its going to launch a missile at the USS Abraham Lincoln. Once the US responds it will collect it's bet.

Relax. We're at least a few months away from anything like this being possible.

With negotiations inconclusive so far, here's an update on the continuing flow of US military assets towards the Middle East.

Sounds like Israel will do the heavy lifting offensively (plus perhaps cruise missiles and such from us again) if anything happens in the next week or two.

You don't put the amount of air power into theater to only lob some cruise missiles.

Our fast planes would undoubtedly be sent to hunt drones and assorted incoming, but likely bombers to assist with offensive maneuvers.

By the way…lots of legitimate focus on our assets. What about the Jordanian's posture? Anything notable?
GAC06

The amount of tacair in theater isn't that impressive. If we were planning a sustained air campaign we'd have hundreds of jets in theater, not <100 plus one carrier.

Hell, there probably are not that many legitimate targets left to bomb in Iran after the Israeli strikes. I think all of our posturing is defensive for an Iranian last gasp when we or Isreal starts taking out their leadership. Hopefully, any strikes would be to allow for the leadership to leave Iran while somewhat "saving face."
Today, unfortunately, many Americans have good reason to fear that they will be victimized if they are unable to protect themselves. And today, no less than in 1791, the Second Amendment guarantees their right to do so. - Justice Samuel Alito 2022

Every single Iranian military and naval base, militia bases, drone production facilities, ballistic missile production and development sites and of course all the homes of the evil assh***s running the country are still fair game.

Lots and lots still to glass.

I agree that for now our posture looks like preparations for countering Iranian missiles and drones, not a major offensive (not factoring in Israel)

True, but those CONUS jets are additive to our forward based aircraft in next-door Europe which are ready to jump over to the ME at a moment's notice. (One of the many advantages of NATO membership.)
GAC06

Yeah we can always send more but squadrons coming from conus are 2-3 days from being ready to fight at best. If we really start flowing stuff over there, that will show something.

Oops I realize now you said from Europe. Squadrons in Europe are also still probably two days from combat ready just based on travel times from England/Western Europe from the time the order is given

With the exception of Naval facilities and leadership, what exactly was Isreal bombing the ****e out of for 12 days? You do not need a Desert Storm type build up today to accomplish leadership decapitation. You need good intel and specific targets. Hitting just the military/militia target sets you mention above is just folly if you do not take out the leadership. If we go in this time, it should be to take out the leadership or coerce them to leave.

Infrastructure should be off the table, because the American taxpayer does not need to be rebuilding that stuff if we are successful in changing the regime.

Speculation that the second carrier sent to fifth fleet will be the Bush, by cutting its current pre deployment workups short. Interesting if true that we'd go that route rather than sending the Ford which is already at sea.

Isn't the Ford a bit busy directing Venezuelan oil traffic and dropping bombs on narcos?
GAC06

Yeah but that's not exactly high threat stuff. Cutting work ups short to sail around the Caribbean sounds more palatable than to potentially operate in a real threat environment. Looks like both air wings are all super hornets (no F-35's) so that's not it.
JB!98

We need to build the hell out of LHA's and F-35B's so that we are not caught in this big carrier carousel of what is and what is not available. Understanding that these assets still have to go through the same cycle, but you could have a hell of a lot more of them.

Edit ahead of time: Yeah, yeah, we need more destroyers, cruisers, and support ships (especially tankers) to support them. Damn it.
