That's almost max contract money. The rockets team will be exactly the same next year with the option of free agency unavailable due to salary cap.
Why would anyone trade for Lin or Asik with those contracts? Not only that, the rockets would have to take back contracts in return

The concern I have about rondo is he would kill floor so spacing because he can't shoot. This offense is better with shooters.

Then why is everyone teasing the idea of Mello to the rockets? Just to sell papers or get web hits?
Not saying you are wrong, but there must be someway. Otherwise I find it hard to believe the radio stations and other media outlets would flirt with the idea if there was not any chance
Because if the warriors can trade Andris biedrins and other ****ty expiring contracts and get Andre igoudala, then the Rockets can trade Lin

Point guard is the most obvious upgrade needed. I love Beverley's energy and tenacity, but he needs to be coming off the bench, not starting. Rondo is the most obvious name that may be an option (expiring contract for Boston in 14-15), but ultimately may have to wait a year for that possibility.

I'm not sure many teams will be interested in paying either player over $15mm next year, even if it is just an 8.3 hit on the cap.

Asik can be a starter on many teams plus his contract has only one year left so I think you can find a taker for him. Lin would have to be packaged with someone better.
The Rockets could sign a mid-level exception guy and wait until 2015 to sign a big name. However I don't think Kevin Love or Lebron James would outright sign with Houston. I'm not sure who else is available then.

So where exactly does defense factor in to Morey's analytics philosophies? I've never really heard t hat discussed. But you've got to think the way the Spurs are trouncing the Blazers is raising an eyebrow in Houston.

His response was the confidence that McHale shows in him.
It looked like he was sitting on the sideline of a gym somewhere and you could hear hoops going on in the background. I'm guessing he was either doing some private workouts, or just playing pick-up somewhere. Pretty cool.

I would give up parsons and anyone else on the roster except harden or Howard for love. Parsons is good but not worth what he will ask for when his rookie deal is up.
I could see a Lin-Asik-Parsons for Love trade, then Minny trying to trade Asik for something else
