Losing Parsons, Asik and Lin for Ariza and Anderson is a pretty big step backwards.

I think Houston is 5-9 seed range.

5th place won 54 games last year so I could see that, but I do fail to see how having the exact same record is a giant step back.

Sorry. Johnson, not Anderson.

Boring ass American names.

The Rockets aren't going to suck next year, no matter how badly Cokehead/Soup/Simpleton want them to.

In what world are a disgruntled and half season Asik and Jeremy Lin something we should be ashamed we lost?

I'm ready to see Canaan play and I think he can provide at least the same value as Lin with much much less cost.

I think a combo of Johnson & Cannon can match Lin's contribution as well. As least defensively it will be an improvement, no doubt. Lin could get streaky hot offensive though.

Losing Asik's sorry a** attitude and part-time performance isn't that big of a loss, and neither is Jeremy Lin's great in garbage time crap in the big moments effort

I think we are better off without those two around.

Please tell me, outside of NBA fans from the state of texas, how many Spurs players do you think the average NBA fan knows besides Parker, Ginobil and Duncan? Y'all have 3 main players and a bunch of other guys who fill out the roster and who fit the scheme that Pop is trying to run. We have 2 main players and a bunch of guys who fit the scheme we are trying to run. How do we know Canaan won't turn out to be as productive as Patty Mills was off the bench? If you want to have a discussion about basketball, let's do it. But if you want to talk sh*t and add nothing to the discussion, that's why the Old Rivalries board exists

The youth of our bench is a huge question mark.. It's easy to write these guys off because of that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they play great at home crappy on the road (which is pretty normal for those type of guys)

I agree with the 5-9 assessment because the west is so damn competitive.. It will be interesting to see if/what moves Morey makes (for better or worse) during the season.

Of course they've taken a step back. Everyone with half a brain knows this. But while everyone is cry/lol'ing on this board, I am looking at who we still have, and with the addition of Ariza, I doubt we are considerably worse.

Losing Parsons sucks, but Ariza is not noticeably worse than Chandler. That was about as good of a replacement as we could have gotten.

Asik pretty much didn't play half of last season anyway because his vajayjay was hurt. His defense was good, but when we had to go to him to guard LA in the playoffs, our offensive rhythm sucked because he cant do sh*t on that end of the court (which is why TJones absolutely has to get better on defense)

And Jeremy Lin, well, that was addition by subtraction.

I don't see us being much worse than last season. And if James has learned to at least try to play defense (longshot, I know, but one can hope), we can still be a scary team.

Well, they were pretty childish. Can't say I disagree with them. But I do understand what he was trying to do by giving the team and fans reason to be confident

Disagree. Both come off as butthurt. Chandler by being offended that we went after players better than him AND wanted to keep him, and harden by saying anything at all.. though all he did was give the media his vote of confidence on his current team. How anyone can take that bad is beyond me. Then again, I'm not constantly trolling other fanbases, so I don't see through your shsdes.

Was he right or wrong? I don't think beverly and a Riza are going to be shocked to learn they are role players to perennial all stars.

We were going after bosh and carmelo. He didn't like it because he thinks he's worth nearly as much as them.. so he ran as fast as he could. That's the definition of butthurt.

I'm not going to argue the factual validity of his statement. Yes, he is absolutely right - He and Dwight are the 2 faces of the team.

However, you don't have to say it in that way. He could have easily said "Me and Dwight are still here and are still committed to winning championships here in Houston, and we have kept some players who played key roles last year and have added some pieces this offseason to help us accomplish that goal" or something like that. That gives off a confident vibe without being a dick. Doesn't mean what he said was incorrect - just childish

He went to a team that valued him as a legitimate third piece instead of staying with the team that pushed hard for multiple players saying they needed a third piece. He was looking out for himself.

It's not hard to say something like this. I don't understand how stuff like this happens in pretty much every sport.

Dallas views Chandler as a third option, and we know that he clamp up and isn't consistent enough to be relied upon as a third option. Even if he was that fr us, it wouldn't have been for that price tag. So ya, he is proving he is extra butthurt because he's not getting what his inflated ego wants.

Morey doesn't think Parsons is worth $15mil/yr, Cuban does. One of them will be right the next couple of seasons.

To be fair, Harden is a GD EXPERT in this situation because Harden was in the exact same situation that Parsons is in now: a key member of an up and coming team who left/was traded because MGMT didnt want to spend $$$ on him. OKC hasn't been the same since. And now neither will Houston.

You're all forgetting about Capela. Also I'd say Daniels, Canaan, and Johnson is a big step forward from Lin and Garcia or whoever the **** was playing there.

Canaan, Daniels, Johnson and Capela have less than 150 career points between the four of them.

Maybe they are a big step up, but it more than likely will take more than a year for all those players to make a sizable impact.

Rookies/young players make strong roles players off the bench all the time. We don't need to hit on every single one just enough to not be completely worthless with the stars out.

They went to the conference finals last year before losing to the eventual champion, and the year before they lost Westbrook for the year in game 2 of our series. Id say they have been about as good as they were with Harden

Not true, 174.

Canaan has 101 points in his career.
Daniels has 42 points in his career.
Johnson and Capela are both rookies.

Like I said, not true. I'll let you figure out what you missed.
