Of course it is laughable to think either will get him, but that is what the offseason is for.

Parker gets 12.5 million through next year. Extend him for a few years at 10 million per (save 2.5 million). Duncan gets 10 million through next year. Restructure his contract to 8 million (save 2 million). Don't resign Bonner (4 million). Use the extra cap space (5 million). That right there is 13.5 million and bring back almost the entire team. It could be doable if lebron really wanted to come to the Spurs for about 15 million.

Yeah, why would the player that has publicly stated he wants to win 7 rings and has moved before to team up with the best team in the NBA want to move again to the best team in the NBA? Completely idiotic to think it is a possibility that LeBron would want to join the best team in the NBA so he has a chance at winning more rings than Jordan.

**********************************************

I don't think he will go to the Spurs, but it is an infinite better situation than Houston, where he also won't sign.

GS - I think that the one thing that you're forgetting to factor in is Lebron's ego. Like any superstar at his level, he has a HUGE ego. If he goes to the Spurs and they win a title(s), he gets virtually no credit (since they've already proven that they don't need him to win). If he goes to the Rockets he would get the bulk of the credit for putting them over the top and leading them to a title.

I don't think that he'll go to either team, but because of the above the Rockets could be just as attractive as the Spurs to Lebron.

He went to Miami, where Wade and Haslem had already won a title. He was still the unquestioned best player on the Heat just like he would be on the Spurs.

Lebron isn't going to San Antonio... Dream on dude. For one, that would be more highly criticized than his move to miami. Lebron going to the team thats beat him twice in the finals? Ha, yeah right.

True, but they hadn't won one in four years. SA won this year, so from a legacy perspective he would get almost no credit if they were to win another one next year.

I think people are mainly going to remember the final number. If they don't disregard his Heat rings, they wouldn't disregard his Spurs rings.

What is going to matter at the end of the day is 6 vs 7 or 8.

I'm delusional for believing LeBron won't be playing in San Antonio or Houston next year?

Or for believing that the better situation for a man with his talents is to take them to San Antonio over Houston or Chicago?

Its not like the Spurs are destined to be successful for the next 10 years. They're old and will need to rebuild soon. Houston is young and a way better fit for Lebron. Its not even close

If only they had three starters under 30 including a 22 year old Finals MVP plus several more role players under 30 and the best front office in basketball.

In the last 15 years, the Spurs have won 5 Championships and the Rockets have missed the playoffs eight times while having advanced past the first round just once.

Great team defense and great team passing won the Spurs the title, neither of which the Rockets are good at. I'm sure neither of those points are lost on LeBron.

The Spurs have a much more proven front office and a coach that doesn't suck.

The Rockets are younger, but the Spurs are more talented, better coached and have a better front office. Howard+Harden will never win a title in Houston.

Houston a better fit? Trollolololololol.

Bad coach? Check
High salaried crap starter at PG? Check
Overpaid big man who's game will not age well very very soon? Check
Complete lack of defense? Check

Lin did start 33 games and is 5th in minutes played for the Rockets.

Lin played 300 more minutes than the Bev.

Yes but Lin is not the rockets starting PG

Even worse to pay $15mm for a guy that can't crack your starting lineup.

In another year. I don't think anyone wants to pay Lin more than Harden next year.

I don't think the Rockets will be able to move him. And they can only give $3mm to offset his ridiculous salary.

If Morey can find a team to trade Royce White, he can do damn near anything

The guy that drafted Marcus Morris over Kawhi Leonard and signed Jeremy Lin over Goran Dragic?

So negative GS! He also got us Harden, Howard, found Chandler in the second round, and like Sunmit said, HE GOT RID OF ROYCE WHITE!!!!

He admits to his mistakes, which is always nice to see in management (at least it's an endearing quality to me). And the Spurs haven't been fool proof either... Cough cough Richard Jefferson
Guitarsoup

Jefferson was a no-brainer, though. Spurs traded three retiring players for him. It didn't work out because Jefferson gargles balls, but 10/10 teams with a SF need would have done the same thing. Zero cost associated with the move.

I do like Morey and how he has open communication with fans and details why he does stuff. Pretty cool.

One of the best twitter follows, for this reason. I'm excited to see what he does this offseason, I have faith in Dork Elvis.

Sucks when moves like that don't pan out.. Rockets have had their fair share of moves that seemed like the right thing and didn't exactly help us. Gotta take the good with the bad (which was my poorly stated point)

The worst part was that we actually re-signed jefferson.

Morey is a decent GM, but so far hasn't done anything to indicate that he's great.

At least we no longer have to watch Jefferson go crashing into Timmy trying to steal away an otherwise uncontested rebound, causing Vietnam-style fan flashbacks to prior knee injuries. I hated him a little more than was perhaps rational.

Per twitter: New secondary logo for Rockets, (and your local human resource office).

Hollins would be a home run, but he's too good a coach to settle for a job as an assistant, especially to McHale. Rockets ought to can McHale for Hollins.

Hollins has stated that he wasn't going to be an assistant anymore. However, after sitting out a year, his tune might have changed, especially if he thinks McHale is a potential dead man walking and he is in line for the spot.

Over the summer, Hollins said he had an opportunity to join Maurice Cheeks' staff with the Detroit Pistons as an assistant coach but declined.

"I had done it [serve as an assistant coach] for a long time before I was given the opportunity to be a head coach," Hollins said. "But my thought process was, 'I've established myself as a head coach. I'd like to stay in that state at the moment.' But if it didn't work out, yeah, I'd go back and be an assistant coach. I'd go to college and be a head coach there, if I had the opportunity. But my thought process is to be a professional head coach."

Morey recognizes that was a bad pick (which is why I like him. Addresses his mistakes) and still traded him away.

He has gotten two stars, and potentially a third, to Houston. We had missed the playoffs the previous 3 seasons and things weren't looking promising for the 2012-13 season. He came through with the Harden trade, big time.

Hasn't translated to postseason success (yet!) but future looks bright in Houston.
