I guess that is the rub - they described what they saw visually and with their sensors. There is no right or wrong about it. They obviously don't KNOW with certainty what it is, but they can tell you all of the things they saw it do and the attributes they witnessed.

My older brother was an F-18 pilot on that Nimitz cruise, though not with VFA-41. I'll ask him about all this next time I see him to see what he thinks about it. He's never told me about anything he's experienced in the cockpit related to UFOs. We've actually never talked about any of that stuff.

That's cool! Would love to get his take on all this. Especially the mis-identification angle. This thing has supposedly been observed hundreds of times. So if it's really some kind of optical illusion or unusual natural phenomena then I think they would have zeroed in on that by now. If it was only a handful of sightings then I'd put more weight on the possibility, but since it's supposedly hundreds I'm taking it off the table.

It also means if there are hundreds of sightings then better pictures/video exist. Ask him if he's allowed to take his smart phone up there when he flys.

Its sad what our gov does/has done. I often wonder if "they" had stuck with the original "captured flying disc" story released on the nations radio system on July 8, 1947, just how different our civilization might be? If the cover-up is not FULLY addressed (including the well documented weather balloon switcheroo the following day) with this latest fluff thing....we got bigger problems than off-world visitors.

If advanced Aliens ever revealed themselves I would be terrified of the fallout here on earth from this. John Lennon may want to imagine a world with no religion, but I can't imagine something more terrifying. If all of a sudden you convinced billions of people of various faiths that the biggest thing they ever believed was a lie and that there was no God/creator/higher power etc. and that we are all meaningless sacks of flesh who just die and turn to sh**, I think that would be absolutely devastating and that we would start to see the beginning of the end times. Fear and chaos and violence would run rampant. The simple truth is that we are violent savages and always have been, until we were given something higher to believe in and guidance on how to live in orderly fashion.

Not saying there still wouldn't be believers, but it would turn the world upside down, and mass suicides would be extremely common, but would be the least of our worries.

Like most things, I would imagine people would find a way to make it work within their chosen religion. Similar to God of the gaps
