Top female agent for Hydra. Or SHIELD. But Hydra.

The Dora Milaje handed Zemo over to The Raft. Did not see that coming. Was pretty convinced they were going to take him back to Wakanda and kill him. As far as comic book characters not dying in these movies, I was pretty sure that the Wakandans would kill the man who assassinated their king.

But, now that he is instead being imprisoned on The Raft......I doubt we've seen the last of him.

I'd hope he'd have some jams to listen to on the raft.

That is interesting. Sort of weird that he wasn't already imprisoned in the Raft, to be honest.

I didn't think Wakanda would execute him necessarily, but I am sure Wakanda has a secure prison.

I mean, it was T'Challa that captured & kept Zemo from killing himself at the end of CACW.

I imagine the only reason he's going to the Raft instead of Wakanda is some kind of diplomatic gesture. But he's definitely getting out of the raft.

My bet: finale post-credits and/or Black Widow post-credits is teasing Dreyfus gathering Walker and/or Zemo and/or new-Widow and/or Taskmaster and/or Batroc. I thought it would be General Ross, but this makes sense too. So really the only reason Zemo isn't in Wakanda is so someone can get him out of the Raft.

Personally, I loved this episode. This is what this series needed in episodes 3 and 4. The character building is strong. The world traveling and villain plotting is disappointingly weak. And Zemo taking the focus for 2 episodes is, potentially, pretty unnecessary. Sam and Bucky are where the focus should be and it thrived in 1, 2 and 5 when that was allowed to happen. And Walker - his stuff is predictable but still pretty good.

Flag Smashers better come up with something good - but either way it'll be worth it if Sam's new outfit is good enough. I dug the training montage and I dug when the kid admired the shield after. Well done.

If you can't wait the 6-1/2 days, there's at least one spoiler pic of Sam's present from Wakanda on the Internet.

Putting those things aside, I still continue to find this show to be so incredibly monotonous and boring.
And yet you continue to hype everyone up and post about how you're staying up late to watch it the second it drops.

Not trying to call you out or anything, but it's just bizarre how hot and cold you are on this show.

Aside from the fact that I couldn't disagree more. If anything I'd figure a screenwriter should appreciate the time they're putting into developing the characters.

Finding an episode boring and still looking forward to future episodes doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Overall, like I said, I appreciate what the show is attempting. I like the characters, the general vibe, etc, and each week I'm going to be hopeful that I'll like the next episode even if I didn't completely enjoy the one prior. It's not "hot and cold." It's "I will forever continue to be excited for the MCU, give it the benefit of the doubt, and have hope that they can course correct when it feels like they're straying."

Also, I was far from the only one in this thread "hyping" the episode. From the cast, to a huge chunk of fanboy Twitter, to this thread, episode five had been hyped for weeks as THE episode of the season.

As for the character development, I'm obviously all for it. But truly great character development intertwines with plot and pacing in ways that are for more organic, propulsive, and less meandering than what I've seen from this show so far. It's like, all the ingredients are there, but the chef is weirdly lethargic at times, often distracted in his preparation of the meal, and for some reason is using one of the most bland ingredients imaginable (the Flag Smashers).

Seems like taskmaster will be joining him in the raft after black widow

So another plot hole...

Is it the actual US government or Hydra working through Shield that was so terrible to Bradley? I get that this show is tying to say something legit about how Black people have/are treated, but it makes it less impactful when literally worse than Nazi's infiltrated the government.

To be honest, it sounds like maybe you should stop reading about upcoming episodes and just let the show do its thing.

Especially since you say you've been "duped" multiple times.

In TCTTS's defense, I've been hearing how "episode 5 is going to make you cry" since before the premiere. And then actors feel the need to chime in on each episode, or tease cameos, etc.

The only way for me to avoid it is to avoid the internet - which ain't happening. It's hard enough to avoid the internet on Friday mornings before I can watch the latest episode!

With a movie, all the chatter is on lockdown... two shows in, there's fresh chatter with each episode and new opportunities for producers, actors, directors, writers, fish pond maintainers, etc. to try and get you hyped for the next big thing.

Again, like I said, that had nothing to do with my dislike of this episode. My dislike was for very tangible, in-episode reasons. Also, I don't go seeking out this info. It's just sh*t I see when scrolling Twitter and when scrolling this very thread. It's unavoidable chatter.

You seem weirdly affected by this. Not everyone is going to like every single thing the MCU does, and it's okay to express those opinions from time to time. I absolutely love 95% of everything the MCU has ever done. But I'm sorry I'm not responding to *this* particular installment in exactly the way you want me to, and I'm sorry for having hope each week that, despite my response, I'll still enjoy whatever they have coming next.

Exactly. You can't avoid this stuff and *also* be on the internet. Especially in the way I need to be for work, and as a fan of TV, movies, the MCU, etc.

That's a really good point, and I doubt they address it, but I don't think Hydra would have infiltrated the government - to that extent - by 1950 or whenever.

For example, Zola is still working in a Shield lab in 1970 (Endgame) and the Starks aren't killed until ~1991.

I think it took Hydra decades to plant its people throughout Shield and the government. It could have been Hydra, but if Bucky was fighting Isaiah in Korea, then Hydra was presumably all-in on the Cold War at the time and wasn't yet at the tops of various government departments.

Rinse and repeat.

It's like you're doing it to yourself at this point. "Fool me once..."

You're way overstating my "hype." Before each of the previous two weeks' episodes, I've simply and quickly mentioned, in some form or fashion, staying up to catch the episodes live. Mainly as to avoid being spoiled on Friday, not because I absolutely cannot wait to watch the episodes each week. It's been two, offhanded posts in which I'm just having a bit of fun, after two, disappointing (IMO) episodes. I can not completely dig this show yet still not want to know what's coming next.

And you're probably reading in more aggression than was intended.

I get it's probably harder for you to stay out of the loop completely on upcoming entertainment, but honestly I've known next to nothing about these shows beforehand and it's been great. It wasn't until this thread that I knew episode 5 was meant to be anything particularly noteworthy.

I feel the entire point of this limited series is to justify Sam as Captain America. To be honest, Never cared much for his character nor Bucky's. Through these episodes, I have come to really like both of them.

I think it's very smart for Marvel to make a series where we truly see Sam struggle with the idea of taking up the shield. Showing the viewer what happens for others who were not around Captain America take up the shield and not truly earn it.

I take my personal acceptance of Sam as proof that this was their goal for this show. At the end of End Game, I thought it was stupid they gave the shield to Sam. I immediately wanted nothing to do with that new Captain America. But with all the story between Bucky and Sam, Sam's growth, and seeing some other "imposter" take up the mantle, Marvel has effectively conditioned me to now root for Sam as Captain America.

Having said all that, I think it's stupid that anyone can throw the shield like that. It should require a super soldier to do that.
