I think this was mentioned before, but it was somewhat unclear.

Disney+ Original series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier from Marvel Studios ranked as the most watched series premiere ever on Disney+ during its opening weekend, Friday, March 19 Sunday, March 22, and the most watched title overall for the same time period on a global basis, including in Disney+ Hotstar markets.

The premiere of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier joins the premieres of Marvel Studios' first live-action series, WandaVision, and the season two premiere of The Mandalorian from Lucasfilm as the three most-watched Disney+ Original series opening weekends to-date.
So it beat both seasons of Mando & Wandavision. Not too shabby.

Technically I don't think it says it beat Mando Season 2 premiere.

1) It's the most watched series premiere
2) Joins Wandavision and Mando Season 2 as the top 3 on the service

Those 2 statements by themselves don't preclude Mando Season 2 having more viewers. If the order was Mando Season 2, Falcon and Winter Soldier, Wandavision then both statements would still be true.

That isn't how I read it. It includes Mando season two as one of " the three most-watched Disney+ Original series opening weekends to-date." Not the 3 more watched on the service.

That idea was floated in the Wandavision thread. A X-Files style monster of the week show with Jimmy Woo.

Also the Jessica Jones show almost got to this point of a low level super hero being a street level detective.

It would be pretty shocking to me if the most watched season premieres on Disney+ are not in this order:

1) Mandalorian Season 2
2) Falcon and Winter Soldier
3) WandaVision
4) Mandalorian Season 1

Mandalorian's season 2 premiere would not generally be considered a "series premiere" by commonly accepted American semantics.

Wanda vision is such an odd concept wouldn't be surprised if it is lower than expected initially.

I think it's pretty clearly saying that the three most watched original series premieres on the Disney+ service, based on the number of viewers during the weekend in which the episode premiered, are FaWS S1:E1, WV S1:E1, and TM S2:E1. We know that FaWS S1:E1 had more viewers than WV S1:E1 during their opening weekends, because it says that FaWS S1:E1 was the most watched series premiere in the history of the Disney+ service by that metric. However, as TM S2:E1 was a season premiere and not a series premiere, there is no way to conclude whether or not it had less viewers than FaWS S1:E1 from these statements alone (I think it is unlikely).

This was the stupidest thing to start debating.

This is dumb but my only complaint is that gatling machine gun on the tiny drone. The physics just would not work. The recoil on that gun would flip that drone all over the place.

Otherwise I loved it!

I was thinking that (I can't remember the nickname for the drone, red hawk or something?) the little drone was kind of carrying most of the load during that dogfight.

But otherwise, I thought it was a great opening episode and a series that looks to have staying power and be more enjoyable than Wandavision.

I see it this way:

The Mandelorian Season 2
The Mandelorian Season 1
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Wandavision

I was not really impressed at all with Wandavision. Seemed like a solid "C" to me.

I chose to believe that its just a drone controlled by Sam, but Sam imagines it as a real bird.

In the comics, Redwing is an actual falcon that shares a telepathic link with Sam. In the movies its a drone.

More to the point, there's literally a major motion picture out called "Snowden" and I still think most people wouldn't recognize him on the street (albeit an actor portrayed him but you get the idea). Also Sam isn't immediately recognized either despite the loan officer literally having his info in front of him... and he just gave up Cap's shield in a public ceremony... etc etc.

I'm thinking it might not make total logical sense, but the show is positioning the situation that these two aren't like, Tom Hanks level stars. More like "hey I might know that guy" sorts of people.

This is where I'm ultimately falling. They're known by some, but they aren't A-Listers.
Put another way, their recognizability is whatever the writers need it to be at the moment. And I'm ok with that.

It also was a planned show for ABC, but it went into development purgatory.

If this didn't beat Mandalorian's S2 premiere, that's a weird and unnecessary spin to put out that story.

This show is dope.

And unlike anything we've seen in the MCU so far, in that it feels like they're starting to push the envelope in terms of sociopolitical issues, but instead of in an annoying way, for whatever reason, through the lens of the MCU, it feels fresh and exciting here. I know race being "injected" into stuff like this rubs some people here the wrong way, but this is not only a story straight out of the comics (Isaiah Bradley and all), it feels extremely organic to the story and characters itself.

It also makes for GREAT tension with the John Walker character, which I didn't see coming. We obviously knew he'd play a part this season, but I didn't expect it to be this big of a role, and I didn't expect the tension between him and Sam and Bucky to crackle this much. It's just so good. I kept thinking this was going to be a Sam and Bucky at-odds/buddy cop thing - and that's obviously there for sure - but to throw Walker into the mix like this is fantastic and just takes it all to another level.

These episode lengths are just the right amount too. It's the first time watching a Disney+ series, be it Star Wars or Marvel, that I didn't feel short-changed at the end of each episode (as good as some of those episodes were). So, yes, we only have four episodes left, but it's basically eight episodes by previous standards, and I can't wait to see where it all goes.

Just started but love the jazz reprise of the music Steve did during the USO tour of the troops in WW2. He effectively is a poster boy just like Steve.

Also this propping up of an image is very The Boys esque in terms of corporate/government backed superheroes during that GMA interview (dat corporate synergy)

The race aspect isn't heavy handed or preachy.

Was it realistic the way the cops approached them in Baltimore? Maybe, maybe not. But it was a pretty shady neighborhood.

It would be odd for Sam (a character we've known for several movies) to suddenly start acting like Dre Johnson, and he doesn't. He still seems just like the guy in the movies.

So, I'm good with those new elements. They're handled well.

What I don't quite understand is who is funding Sam if he isn't with the government.

excellent way to introduce Zemo. The Isaiah Bradley stuff was great.

I really like John Walker, he is a little cocky but as of this moment I do believe he is trying to do what is right.

He is "with" the government in the sense that he's a contractor. But that contract is for activities in other countries that aren't necessarily sanctioned. I think it was briefly covered in the first episode before the canyon sequence.

I'm trying to put my thoughts together on the episode, so this post might be a lot of rambling.

First off, the guy playing Walker looks like someone who speaks British English, or something, and is faking an American accent. His chin/jaw look really off. As far as him being the new Cap, was anyone else surprised at him throwing that shield around and catching it with such ease? I was always under the impression that one needs enhanced strength/reflexes to do that. Also, want the audience to dislike you right away? Threaten the title characters.

I am not a fan of the girl from Solo. She wasn't believable in that, for me, and she isn't believable in this. Also, perhaps they will expand her role in other episodes, but for someone in the forefront, they gave her almost no lines. I am intrigued by whoever sent the texts to her. The guy who got himself killed referred to the powerbroker...generic term or someone specific?

The couple's session was unnecessary. Could have reached the same point without the soul searching and leg rubbing.

Was this show written last summer?

The reporter did mention that even though he is not enhanced, the Walker character tests off the charts on normal human physical ability.

I mean we know Wilson will be practicing soon and Walker is apparently peak unenhanced human
