Trump will go down in history as one of the most ambitious, forward thinking presidents we've ever had. He's accomplishing things other presidents have only ever talked about. AND IT'S ONLY BEEN A YEAR.

Within 2 years, I'd be willing to get we own Greenland and accomplish it without firing a shot. They will sell it to us.

Underestimate this guy at your own peril. The dude straight up wins, whether or not you like his personality.

If we're concerned about China and Russia, why are we pissing off our allies and risking the breaking up of NATO? (Something China and Russia want).

As previously mentioned, Ralph Lauder championed this with Reagan 40 years ago. He also brought it up to Trump 1.0.

I would think both Bush admins would have discussed options at some point as well. Nixon was paranoid AF so that is probably what is missing from the tapes.

This has already been discussed on this page or just prior.

We are not pissing off our allies and this will not end NATO. Quit getting your news from reddit and Joe Mika.

This thread is entertaining! We are not going to invade Greenland. It would end Trumps presidency and he knows it. Some of you are so gullible. Now, buy it or negotiate placing defenses there, yeah.

They will never sell it. If it was about placing defenses there, there are much more effective ways about doing that within the alliance structure we already have.

my opinion is I tend to think this will all get worked out, their will be several major US military ports and bases in Greenland is my guess. It will be there to protect the US, 2nd it will be for EU. Ownership won't matter as long as our military is there

We aren't investing that much on "rented" ground with landlords (the EU and Europe NATO countries) that have been totally fickle and really starting to hate us, not to mention going through a cultural shift due to immigration in their countries.

Trump is making this public to get them to show their cards...If it was just a matter of having bases there in Greenland, this wouldn't even be a big public campaign...We could easily get that done without any hoopla if we agreed to pay for all of it and not make any of the cheap NATO countries chip in.

Some of the bases we have in Europe now will probably eventually be a total loss when Islam takes over.

Mark Warner (D(ouche)-VA) is playing the role of libtard on with Bret Baier regurgitating the reddit talking points about end of NATO, Thule amendment says we can do what we want anyways, and this is driving our allies into the arms of China and Russia.

For those speaking the same takes, you are perfectly aligned with Mark Warner. That is embarrassing.

Greenland population 57,000. College Station could kick Greenland's ass.

President Trump can buy 57,000...easily.

Watching how Canada and the EU are actually in the real world responding to this is now reddit talking points, instead, well, reality.

We're in real time watching the collapse of American soft power, watching our allies hedge to China, and blowing up a system of trust built over the last 85 years that has made us the most prosperous nation on Earth, because dear leader didn't get a medal.

For people on this forum, yes, that's how he will be remembered. By presidential historians and scholars, ie the people who do this for a living? No. The rough consensus after his first term placed him around 42 in rank. I'm skeptical his second term will see that ranking improve. But time will tell of course.

They have been "hedging to China" and Russia for some time now, hence the issue. Let them continue down that road and see how well it works out for them.

The "death" of NATO, what would that look like? Europe looking out for their own self interest against China and Russia and the USA taking all of its toys and bases and Naval power home? First, good luck with that, Europe! Second, sign me up!

people on this thread keep saying we can already do whatever we want with respect to military bases on Greenland. So, according to google we currently have about 80000 military in Europe. How about we move 40000 of those to Greenland and start building out whatever we want in bases and infrastructure. Anyone have a problem with that?

I would if I was one of the active duty military stationed in Europe that was being moved to Greenland.

Mostly retired business owner (multiple) and former CPA. At 48 years.

If you want to be personal, I think I have made pretty good use of my life.

Slow day, banks and markets are closed. And watching libs and CMs wet the bed over Greenland is like watching hookers piss all over Trump in Moscow.

It must be heartbreaking when you lose an argument so bad all you got is how many posts I have today. Funny, but still sad.

We evidently once had 17 bases in Greenland and now we have one, that is supported by more Danes than US soldiers.

Do we really think Danes and their EU socialist friends are going to let us open the 16 others bases back up and then move troops in to double the population of their island?

What Trump is doing results in us not having to ask the above question.

Nothing is going to happen to NATO unless we want something to happen to it. The Europeans need us a ton worse than we need them. Our military and our markets cannot be replaced by any other country on the planet. All this drama and worry about NATO is just another brainless lib talking point for the ignorant masses.

Besides, Europe hates Putin and half of those countries are currently indirectly at war with Russia in Ukraine. China isn't their friend and they know it. If they want to roll the dice and take their chances then all I have to say is ...

But it won't happen. As Faulkner said, it's the sound and the fury, signifying nothing.

The European leaders are socialist morons. I wouldn't be certain they'll act rationally. They are destroying their countries with Islamic immigrants, advocate for child sex changes and hormone blockers, and handicap their energy production for global warming fears.

If they were truly clear thinking and rational they wouldn't do any of these things. Their self preservation instincts are severely lacking.

They would absolutely sabotage themselves out of arrogance and self righteous virtue signaling.

I love me some Hank Johnson. During impeachment I drank every time he said "dakkamintz". It led to treatment but it made the hearings watchable.

Oh I agree. I just think it humorous that these guys keep saying we don't need to buy it or take it because we can get everything we want under the current arrangement. If that's the case suppose we decide we need to move 40000 troops there? Are we invading or just increasing troops as needed under the current agreement?

If we "can do anything we want" with our base or bases, then how would Greenland know the difference between the movement of 50,000 troops & equipment and an all out military invasion? They don't have a military to even launch a defense.
