It is BY FAR the quickest route from China to Europe. It is most of Russia's coastline.
And there's two ways in and out - right by Alaska and right by - Greenland.

This is worth a read because he makes a lot of points I haven't seen in other post on this matter:
From Winston Marshall:
The Greenland issue has exposed two fundamental misconceptions widely held by Europeans elites
1. That the rules based world order ever existed.
No. It was only ever a mirage, American might and money kept Europe afloat
2. It is America causing the "turbulence" and threatening world stability.
No. America is in a Thucydides Trap. The threat to the world is China. U.S. are acting in response.

There is zero debate as to Greenland's strategic value, both economically and militarily. IMO, the reason Trump immediately pivoted to Greenland after the Venezuela action was to sent a clear message to China - that the Western Hemisphere is America's backyard, and you're not welcome in it.

This stuff isn't difficult to understand. People just have to remove their emotions and think about the situation with their brains. Instead, some people hyperventilate when they hear the name "Trump." Some people think that the Europe of today is the Europe of 1950.
We are essentially in geopolitics alone. If we don't look out for our own interests, no one else will. We have financially supported Europe for 80 years. It makes no sense for us whatsoever. We have to either force Europe to act to protect itself or we have to act in our own interests. Those are our choices.

If only there was a treaty signed with Denmark and The United States in 1951 that allows the US to do exactly this.

Yes. Maybe everyone will step back from the cliff now.

The EU has proved to be not as friendly as 1951, the less control or involvement in Greenland the better. UK threatening Americans and American businesses. That's not too friendly.

Show the libs this speech, and it will be obvious trump is not capable of serving a third term.

For those that insisted yesterday the market sell off yesterday was strictly because of the Japanese debt issues, please explain why the market reversed sharply after this announcement by Trump?
PS. I agree the situation in Japan added to the sell off but I believe the threat of new tariffs was the bigger driver just like it was after Liberation day.

So what happens if they decide to renege on the deal (mind you, they've shown zero interest in doing that)? You think they're going to stop us from enforcing a treaty we agreed to?

So just because it's old and times may have changed, that makes a difference? We can, and will enforce this treaty if we want to. And no one is stopping us. Which is why this whole "we need Greenland" thing is so stupid.
