Tim Howard's take hasn't aged well at all. Granted he is also just not a good pundit. I can understand the hesitancy. He got relegated twice in a row and we paid a hefty English premium for him. It was a risk and hopefully he keeps this form up

I'll be honest, I didn't understand the signing and most people thought we over paid for him. It's amazing what he's done and I wonder if any of the pundits have changed their minds about the signing.

And damn, soccer is so up and down.

I wasn't disappointed with the Ramsdale signing. I thought he was legit brought in to spell Leno and hopefully develop into the no 1 keeper, but what he has done to date this season has likely even the most ardent fans of the deal looking on in relative amazement. Of course a lot of that also has to do with the improvement in the back line.

Very happy to see and say Arteta is reeling me the eff back in.

The Brentford lost and Crystal Palace draw aren't looking so poorly now.

Eh, that Brentford loss was bad as we weren't even competitive

I submit this tweet. Yeah we were pitiful, but we had several out with Covid. Gabriel and Partey were injured. I'm still not sold on Arteta and I want to see the intensity we catch hold of for 20-45 minutes at a time be sustained for most of the match. Leicester were all over us for large portions of it and some incredible saves kept them from scoring. We can't do that every week. Still, 17 points from 21 is something I'll take

Ramsdale looking like a great signing, and frankly all of the signings the last 2 years are looking good (except Willian). I think 4th place is possible and should be our goal, we just need to remain consistent and not have a long spell of poor play like we did last year. But really, that hasn't happened since ESR and Odegaard have been heavily involved.

Africa Cup of Nations is going to test us.

Just a reminder that tottenham have had more managers in 2021 than they have league titles

It was nice to see Tim Howard eat his words about Ramsdale after the game.

He really ripped the signing on the deadline day show.

Conte to Spurs. Good manager but I don't see him as a good fit. They have some good players but overall the squad is not good. He is also going to demand they spend a good bit to get the players he wants which will all be expensive because he doesn't much like playing youth players.

It's the best hire they could have made, but I agree with you that I don't think he will fit well there. Who knows. Seems have of Arsenal fans are losing their minds over it though. Will spurs and Levy let him spend the money to revamp that squad that is in need of a lot of pieces. He walked away from Inter for transfer disagreements.

Looks like Unai to Newcastle. This one intrigues me more.

This was stated on the Arsecast and I tend to agree: Conte only tends to stay 3 years at each stop and Spurs need a longer rebuild than that. I think they need to move Kane on and should have done that last year. I think he could maybe make them a top 6 team at best, but really they need to start over. I feel like they're where we were 3-4 years ago.

Agreed. They screwed up not selling Kane for 100m. Now between his attitude and reduced production they will be lucky to get half that. Conte of course will not want to sell him. Comparing to his Inter squad (3-5-2), he will want Kane as his Lukaku and Son as his Martinez. That has potential to be quite good. The problem is that they have no distributors/playmakers at CM so they will become one dimensional relying on the WBs to provide service. Any team that will be able to shut down the wide areas will effectively shut down their attack. Conte will need/want to rebuild their CM 3 and that will cost atleast 100-150m. Highly doubt any team will be willing to sell him the quality CM he will want in Jan unless the player has an expiring contract.

I'm sure Levy gave Conte assurances about transfer money, so maybe they go out and just pay someone's release clause like we did Partey.

A Kane/Son pairing up top could be good but both of those guys are nearing 30 and I think Kane for sure is on the decline. Son is 29 but still at the peak of his game IMO. But like you said they have a lot of holes in CM that will take a while to fix. Hopefully that is the case.

Kane seems to be on a heavy decline. Not sure if it age/injuries catching up, his desire to leave or a combo but he hasn't looked very good this season.

Agree on Son, but again he is near 30 and has a game predicated on speed. We have all seen how quickly that dropoff can happen.

The MF is very troublesome. Hojbjerg is basically a more defensive Xhaka. Looks really good on the international stage but too slow in his decisions making to play at a high level in the EPL. He may function well as the #6 for Conte. To me, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Alli & Winks all look like bad fits for Conte which means he would need to replace all of them.

Then you have guys like Lucas & Bergwijn that don't have a true role in Conte's formation.

Sounds like Tierney is available this weekend, but I'd give Tavares the start again. Make sure KT is fully ready to go.

Will be Arteta's 100 match in charge. I thought this was a shocking stat giving some of the poor runs we've had under him.

Also a rumor we may go after Vlahovic in January.

I'd be interested to see where we fall on a PL table that included every match in 2021.

For just 2021 so far.

Man City: 60 pts (They've played 2 extra matches than everyone else)
Man Utd (shocking): 43 pts
West Ham: 42 pts
Arsenal: 41 pts
Chelsea: 40 pts

Di Marzio reporting that Arsenal has met with Fiorentina reps in London and have an initial agreement for a 80m euro transfer for Dusan Vlahovic in Jan. No agreement with the player yet. Agent is supposedly holding out to see if any other offers come. My guess is that they are trying to see if he can make the jump to a club with CL football.

Also saw a couple other interesting rumors a couple days ago...

1. Barca supposedly interested in a Jan move for PEA with Aguero out for 3-4 months and de Jong likely to be sent back to Sevilla. Biggest issue with this rumor is that I don't see them being able to afford both his salary and a transfer and I don't see us giving him away considering his forma has been better lately.

2. Newcastle are rumored to be interested in a summer move for Guenduezi. Supposedly they are currently exploring the options of a) convince Duezy to reject a permanent OM contract so they cannot exercise their buy option and then buy him directly from us. Or b) convince OM to pick up the option and flip him for an immediate profit.

My added $0.02 on Vlahovic... while I would take him if these rumors are true, I am a little concerned that he is the next hot name ST out of Serie A that ends up in England or Germany and does nothing. Though I guess you could also make the argument that he could be the next Zlatan as well.

Been doing some research on ST options based on a link I saw a few weeks ago and 2 guys I really like that fit our current transfer age profile, could play very well together in our recent 4-4-2 and I think we could purchase both for the same or less than Vlahovic...

Arthur Cabral - 23yo. Listed at 16m on TransferMarkt. Goals/90 of 1.25 in the Swiss League this season. Physically stronger than any of our current ST. Better in the air than any of our current ST. Solid dribbling & passing. Scores some tricky flick, back heal, etc... type goals. Looks capable of playing as a target/holdup ST but seems to have a good bit of poacher mentality based on his highlights. If he could adjust to the EPL, think he would be a good option both in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2.

Darwin Nunez - 22yo. Listed at 22m on TransferMarkt. Rumors that he almost sold to Brighton last summer for 25m. Has been primarily playing LW for Benfica this season but has played ST for them and prior clubs. Reminds me of a younger PEA in his movement. Not quite as fast but makes very good runs and good passes. While he has good size (6'2") and physical strength he doesn't currently operate as a holdup player though his dribbling and passing suggest that he may be capable. Solid in the air but much better with his feet. Think he could be a good option as a LW/ST in a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 or as a ST/SS in a 4-4-2.
