Need LCFC to make this a great weekend. Also watching the Newcastle match, Joelinton committed about 3 YC fouls in about 5 secs. Gets 1 card.
True but just a point is still good for uswangus12 said:
So predictable by Leicester

Chelsea would shaft us for Broja
Contract expiring in 2023. Talk that he might want a change. Has said in the past that if he were to return to England, Arsenal would be his #1 option. We need a ST & CM but I think you gotta consider that option as well. Martinelli has a future at ST and can also play both Ws. ESR can play both LW & AM. Gnabry can play both Ws. Make your CM purchase a true single pivot #6 (Kamara? Adams?) and then run a 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 of...Ag Since 83 said:
Where did this Gnabry chatter come from?

So what would this 4-2-2-2 lineup look like if you included Leao and David?
Pepe doesn't have the skillset for ST the way Arteta wants to play. He can technically make the runs in behind like PEA but he has little to no holdup play, has never shown much for aerial abilities and looses possession too often in tight spaces. For us his best bet is W but he loses possession too much against the "park the bus" teams so it's hard to justify him ever being a regular starter for us. His ideal position/scheme would be as a 4-4-2 ST or a 3-4-3/4-3-3 winger for a team that runs a press and counter offense. That way he can utilize his speed and finishing without exposing his possession deficiencies.Strangely Attractive said:
I'm not sure why we're not giving minutes to Pepe time at Striker. Heck, in my mind even Smith-Rowe could play a similar false 9 role like Laca has been playing.
For how we currently play at RB are options. Keep hearing rumors about Cedric leaving. I think he may have finally realized that he isn't gonna play much and may look to go. The question is whether anyone wants him enough to buy him or we have to do another "free transfer" to get rid of him. In addition to your scenario, I could see us snagging a DM that can also play RB (Adams?) and just run with White & the DM as rotational backups. That actually works really well for Saliba getting more playing time as well.wangus12 said:
I'll be very curious to see what happens with the RB situation. They're obviously gonna want someone young to challenge Tomi. I could see them riding out Cedric for one more year (contract till 2024) as the backup and then promoting Brooke Norton-Cuffy from the U23s. He's on loan right now at Lincoln City and has looked really good. Hopefully they can get him out next year to a championship side to continue growing and then fold him in to the squad in 2023.
Hi @HACKETTREF what are your thoughts on McTominay stopping this quick throw in? If Martinelli was booked for his, surely this should have been a booking too? pic.twitter.com/dmQktDLln2

Your comment doesn't make the situation any better or justifiable. If ref's started showing yellow for ALL of these situations then the delay's would stop.Mathguy64 said:
That happens on 1/2 the throws and 1/2 the free kicks in every pro match. Yeah it's delaying a restart. If they call it teams will be 8v7. It gets called in every non pro game 100% of the time.
Martinelli was booked for two fouls. Both UB.
I dont disagree one bit. But at the professional level everyone does it and its accepted. Thats not the refs making that decision. Its what the league/players/teams expect at that level. And its in every single professional league in the world. Not a game goes by where someone doesnt toss a ball away, or grab a player.chjoak said:Your comment doesn't make the situation any better or justifiable. But Martinelli didnt prevent a restart. He fouled a player who took a restart and who put the ball in play. The card was for shove.Quote:Quote:
Martinelli's first yellow was for jumping in front of the throw-in and trying to delay it. What McTominay did was 10x worse. He actually put his hands on a player and physically prevented the restart. All he got a warning. He also had 3-4 reckless challenges in a 10 min span and was not booked for any of them.
There was no shove on the 1st yellow. He attempted to block the throw from happening and the player's hands hit Martinelli on his follow through.Mathguy64 said:But Martinelli didnt prevent a restart.
