Add a little clarification on the ST comments...

I would ideally sign one of Eddie/Jesus.

If Eddie re-signs... I wouldn't turn Jesus away but I would tap the breaks and look at a bigger/stronger option first. Thinking someone like Schick, Abraham, Weghorst or Morata. Most are over last summer's age profile but would bring something different than Eddie without necessarily blocking opportunities for him. Schick or Tammy would be signed as starters that may limit Eddie a bit. Weghorts or Morata would be options that Eddie could overtake if he steps up his game. This option (keep Eddie and buy a big #1) is my least favorite because the number of available high end big guys is limited and of the guys I listed above I think only Abraham would be a really good fit. Unfortunately Tammy would cost a good bit. Mourinho supposedly stating that he will not sanction a move unless someone pays the 80m buyback that Chelsea has in the deal.

If Eddie leaves... I would then do what I could to sign Jesus as the #1 and replace Eddie with someone young that is big, strong and ideally mobile. I'm thinking guys like Adam Hlozek, Sasa Kalajdzic, Breel Embolo, Armando Broja, Mohamed Bayo or Hugo Ekitike. This option would be my pick. It overall costs more because we have to buy 2 guys but it allows you to bring in a proven EPL ST that can shift to W if needed as well as a young target man with lots of upside. Of the guys above, Embolo is the real outlier. He isn't as young and has less upside but he fits the big, mobile forward with solid holdup play. The others all bring something (other than height) that provides a different look than Jesus and have potential to develop into our own Vlahovic.

Strangely Attractive

I think we may need to sign another holding mid because I think Sambi may be more of an 8. Partey is great but he can get injured and we need depth there.

I don't think we will address this during this offseason though.
Elneny filled in admirably but I think he hit a wall and he's a decent third string option but we need better with the additional matches we will have next year.

Let Eddie go at this point. Go get Jesus and like you said, find a different target style striker.

Yeah. Feel like there is more upside and flexibility with that move. Added bonus is that most of our academy ST or more like Eddie so he should be easy to replace.

ESPN UK reporting that City has quoted us 55m GBP for Jesus. They claim we have tapped the breaks to consider other options.

His late season form has bumped his price. If that one happens, it'll probably be at the end of the window at this point and hopefully no other big teams are willing to pay that number. Honestly City could afford to let him go for free next year, but I'm sure they're looking to offset the Haaland transfer. 55m is pricey since we have multiple holes to fill.

Regardless of late season form, 55m is too high for a guy with 8 league goals this season and 12 months on his contract. He has been a 20+ goal scorer in this league but transfer costs are a combination of demand, contract length and "what have you done lately". And yes he has shown really well in the last month or so but you still have 8 league goals on the season. This quoted price is more about wanting to screw over a league competitor and reduce their purchase power in the window.

Don't see anyone else biting at that price. The crappy part will be when they end up accepting 30m euro from a team in Spain or Italy.

FWIW Everton avoid relegation and don't need a result in the final match.

Everton supporter here. We don't need a result but manager's instructions Sunday will be, "go have fun boys!" Zero pressure can be insanely competitive

ETA: Norwich will play the same against spurs

Lol rumors the spurs team has food poisoning. Please let Norwich pull it off and us beat Everton. It'd be hilarious

Running on about no sleep in Vegas but I've managed to get downstairs to watch. Maybe it's because we're at home again or just playing a bad Everton, but there is much more fluidity to out movement and passing. Where the eff was this last week

Nuno sure is fun to watch when we don't have to worry about defending....and on cue he doesn't clear the bell quickly enough after a Saka error
