The league really needs to get out there and set a standard - if this number of players tests positive, games is postponed. With no set standard, it just looks like playing favorites.

Auba stripped of captaincy and out of West Ham game
Have a feeling this isn't gonna end well. The club statement definitely makes it seem that there have been several infractions that haven't been public. Could very well see him leaving after this. Would hate to see his time here end that way.
As for the captaincy, I think the obvious answer is KT. Downside is KT has issues with injuries amd misses a lot of time. Darkhorse is Odegaard who captains Norway. I think the best choice is Xhaka, but fans would riot if he got it back after last time. Lacazette is a senior player, but is 95% gone in the summer

Holy crap. Of course we don't know everything going on behind the scenes, but this feels like an overreaction. This is definitely a point of no return crossed. Can't see him starting again and it also feels like we've just severely weakened our hand in the transfer market. Why not just keep things quiet, let him keep the armband, and try to move him in January? Banter club.

Idk, this seems like the right call. He's had multiple infractions with the spurs game last year during which it was also reported this wasn't the first time he's been late to stuff. Then last week. Dude is the captain and should be leading by example and a consummate professional, especially in a squad as young as ours.
The positive side of me likes to think he'll be unburdened by this, take it like a man and just focus on letting his play speak for itself. We all know he's better than what he's done the last 18 months. The Arsenal side of me thinks we've probably seen the last of him and have another Ozil situation on our hands.

As big of a mess this is, I think they had to do it. Above all else, Auba has repeatedly been unprofessional.
I think KT is the right choice, but I"d be OK with giving it to Laca the rest of the season and then figuring out the long term answer in the summer. It's too soon for someone like Odegaard or Ramsdale, but after a full season maybe not? Gabriel is a possibility assuming he continues to improve his English as he apparently has been

Looks like we're going Emery route with a leadership team. Lacazette as 1st captain, Xhaka #2 and Holding #3.

Just watched a segment of 2 Robbie's. Mustoe was chastising Arteta for how the situation was being handled. Earle defended Mikel by pointing out that this is likely not the first instance and Arteta has to think about the optics of a locker room full of young players. Both agreed that the public announcement of everything going on was likely an attempt to force PEA out in Jan.
Given how fast Ornstein and McNicholas had the story once the "disciplinary breach" term was said, and the fact everyone knew he wasn't at training Friday apparently, and the fact he was left out of Southampton and probably West Ham also, I assume it was going to come out anyway so I don't see the point in saying Arteta should have handled it internally
I agree. The media quickly knew that there was a disciplinary breach which could literally mean anything. Making it public to acknowledge that Auba came back to London half a day later than he agreed to seemed (to me at least) to be a way to get out in front of wild speculation and demonstrate that it wasn't anything too nefarious. Most importantly, it gives the player a path back into the team as long as he shows contrition and maintains his value in the transfer market.
