Unfortunately you'll need to not watch when Arsenal are down late for the remainder of the season. It's for the good of the club.wangus12 said:
Not gonna lie. I decided to leave work and drive home and didn't watch or listen to the end. Just kinda said man I hope we nick one back. Got the final score as I pulled into the driveway. Made my ****ing day!

By the way, I went on stage tonight at 9pm @sohotheatre knowing we were 1-0 down.

Midway through the show, a guy came ONSTAGE OUT OF THE AUDIENCE and whispered in my ear, “Arsenal won 2-1, 95th minute winner.”
Completely unprecedented. Completely justified. I finished strong.
It feels like we still have a number of tough matches remaining Spuds, Chelzki, Liverpool, West Ham and Man U. Still a long way to go to make top 4.wangus12 said:
This is the biggest win we've had since the last minute winner against Leicester. At least it feels like it

This is were I am at. Sure, he isn't scoring much this season but he is drawing Saka, Martinelli & ESR into the scoresheet much more than PEA was and helping to develop those players. And if he is kept around the pressure to buy 2 quality ST is lessoned. You can buy 1 guy that you expect will be starter within a few months and then run with Laca, New Guy & Martinelli/Balogun as your ST rotation. If Laca is ok being the cup and bench forward, I think he would be a good vet to keep around.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:
In my opinion, it all depends on the role he will play for us and how much it costs. Barring a major collapse, we'll be playing some sort of European football next year and he could be a good option in those group stage games and cup games, with some sub minutes. We'll still have to sign two strikers but I think the on-the-field value plus what he appears to bring to the locker room leaves him with a place on the team. But again, it will come down to cost.
Agreed. One thing to consider with his age... outside of his finishing being crap right now, there is nothing in his game that suggests he will all of a sudden fall off a cliff in the next couple of years. So are the leadership and intangibles worth keeping him around?wangus12 said:
I think it'll all depend on the player. I do think Arsenal are going to offer him some form of extension (I'd go max of 2 years). He'll be 31 in May and he has to know Arsenal are going to try and bring in some really good young players to take his job. If he is fine with that and possibly taking a pay cut in some way, I'd be ok with him sticking around.
He has really been one of more professional players we've had in recent years. No drama even when things aren't going his way. A good role model for our younger guys.
Agreed. I would suspect it would. Only realistic club I have seen linked to him thus far is Lyon. They aren't gonna hand him a deal even half what he is making now. We could offer him 2yr @ 100k/wk and likely be competitive with any other offer he would receive. Maybe offer him a lower salary with individual and team incentives that allow him to earn more (but still less than his current base) and maybe even a 3rd year option that can be triggered by performance?wangus12 said:
Thats how I see it. We are looking at adding at least 6-8 matches next year with some form of European competition and we have an incredibly thin squad right now. With Nketiah surely gone, keeping Laca as a secondary striker probably isn't the worst thing.
But it has to be done at the right price. He's on 180k/wk right now. That number needs to come down. A lot.
United’s failure to beat Watford today feels significant when you consider their next league fixtures are against City, Tottenham and Liverpool…

Wow Christian Eriksen is back and playing today, amazing
Had this debate on another forum. Starting on the right vs left, Saka typically has looked much better on the right. The times when he has done really good things on the left have been when he starts on the right and shifts over to the left side during the course of an attack. His ability to make things happen in those situations is more a matter of him throwing off the defender who wasn't prepared for him to popup on his side or in some cases it is because both he and ESR end up on the left combining together. It's much more of the "overload" or "switch-up" that produces the opportunities than it is his overall effectiveness on any given side.Strangely Attractive said:
Did the events of the last game change opinions on starting lineups?
I have been saying that Pepe needs a LOT more minutes, and I would like to see him start on the right with Saka on the left(Saka scored from the left vs Brentford and looks more dangerous on that side to me). I would have Martinelli spell Laca in the 65th minute or so.
I heard that rumor on Saturday, but there still hasn't been any confirmation of whether or not its true.Strangely Attractive said:
ESR has COVID.
But in general I think he also needs to play a lot more, he's our leading scorer.
