He seems to go to that side every time. I'd like to see the percentages

Performance has been fine, Auba has just botched the 2 best chances

We need to test Foster more. Other than the penalty he hasn't had anything to do.

I'd like to thank the announcers for bringing up 2 of my more painful Arsenal memories within 10 seconds: doing the double against Leicester and still not winning the title, and the Invincibles being knocked out of the CL by Chelsea

What was Ranieri upset with Arteta about?

What's a good place to find today's xG? I'm genuinely curious how big a gap Auba caused

Was it us scoring with the Watford player on the ground?

If so, **** that. Those guys were on the ground all day long.

I think it was more before that. Instead of throwing the ball back to Watford after it was played out (by us) we played it as an attack

We've looked pretty good in a 4-4-2 the last several weeks. Would really like to see us build towards that as our permanent formation in the next 2 windows.

Keeper and Defense is actually is really good shape. Won't need to do anything there except sort out the numbers (sell & replace Leno, sell Mari/Chambers/Cedric, etc...).

CM may actually be in good shape if we can work on MO's defensive ability/work rate and use him as a creative #8 next to Partey. Lokonga, AMN & Patino could work as solid backups which would allow us to offload Xhaka (question whether we would/could though). MO could also be played as a SS in which case I would look for a starting CM (maybe a vet?) to play next to Partey and consider loaning Patino if Xhaka stays.,

Wing is in solid shape for now with Saka, Pepe & ESR. However, it could quickly need an overhaul because Pepe may not be an ideal fit for the formation (he's not been playing much lately) and It could be argued that ESR could be a good SS fit. That would leave us in need of some wings with some balanced abilities.

The forward positions need to be rebuilt. PEA is solid in a 2 ST setup but given his age you need to plan for him walking away when his contract expires (2023). Laca will be gone this summer. Eddie will likely be gone as well but I honestly wouldnt be upset if he signed a new deal. Think Martinelli would be a great ST/SS in a 4-4-2 but he really needs a loan to get minutes and train for the position. Balogun will likely be a good option for the future but he really needs a loan too.

So, how about a game at Anfield with 4th place on the line?

Their player was feigning injury. They kicked it out. We kept possession and didn't give it back. Tough luck, hornets.

If they play it out when one of our players is down, we should give possession back. If they play it out for their own player, that's our ball now. Maybe stop pretending to be injured to break up our attacks.

For just 2021 so far.

Man City: 60 pts (They've played 2 extra matches than everyone else)
Man Utd (shocking): 43 pts
West Ham: 42 pts
Arsenal: 41 pts
Chelsea: 40 pts

And now only West Ham and Man City have scored more in 2021.

I agree ST is the most important position to target moving forward. I want another young RB to compete with Tomiyasu just as Nuno has done to Tierney.

Same at CB although maybe bringing Saliba back would solve that problem. I think also it would give us an effective back 3 with White on the right side if we wanted to do that for certain occasions.

I think MO is more of an attacking midfielder. I'd like to see us bring in another #8 midfielder, a big time ST, and a young up and coming RB.

I like Vlahovic and if that's who they want, I hope we get him. Our transfers have seemed to be spot on the last several windows, with the exception of Willian of course.

I think ESR might be better suited for the 8 position compared to MO, ironically enough given their jersey numbers. I wouldn't do that now since ESR is giving us so much end product.

But if Martinelli develops like we all hope, I could see him as a left winger, Vluhovic at 9, Saka on right, MO as the 10, Partey and ESR in midfield, and our current back 5. Could be pretty great.

I'm really torn on where I think different players should play. Really depends on whether we stick with a 4-2-3-1 or switch to a 4-4-2. My gut says we are switching to a 4-4-2 because a) U23s have been playing that all season, b) we have been playing it with success for the last several games and c) Pep has started playing a 4-4-2.

You may be right about being a better fit for a #8. I tend to think his dribbling and offensive contributions are better when he is further up the pitch. MO is not a huge goal threat but he is an excellent passer. If he can atleast learn some defensive positioning he could be a creative #8 / DLP next to strong defensive CM. But all of that is just me thinking about what to do if we go 4-4-2. If we stick with any variation of a 4-3-3, I would eventually like to see MO & ESR both playing 8.5 roles in front of a single pivot.

In the summer I would really like to see us make a strong run at Denis Zakaria as a free agent CM. Little older than our current age profile but would be a good bridge in the gap of our vet vs young CMs. You can then run with a 5 man CM rotation of Partey (29), Zakaria (25), Xhaka (30), Lokonga (22) & AMN (25). If you need to go heavy defense, you play Partey & Zakaria. Need more offense, play one of them with any of the other 3 CMs.

I love Zakaria and I agree. I heard Clive Palmer mention him and I would be excited about that addition. I'm ok with 25, we have more than enough youngsters.

4-4-2 always seemed too old school for me but what's old is new again it seems. And I've always liked 2 strikers, even Emery's best runs were with Laca and Auba in tandem. A left sided striker would suit Martinelli potentially as well. I like it.

I thought Maitland-Niles looked good on Sunday and it sounds like he wants to now stay and fight for his place.
