Once again, Luhnow straight killing people. The KC Royals people are pissed off that he's the guy that is the PTBNL.

Guys, I know there is a lot of time to tell, but these types of moves add up and are such the opposite of the types of moves that I'm used to the Astros making. Luhnow appears the be the next great GM if things go the way they appear to be going.

Maxwell has got to be leading the majors in avg. Homerun distance.

Anyone else think maxwell makes routine defensive plays look difficult?

Maxwell's power has been impressive, but it might be time for someone to sit him down and have the "act like you've been there" talk (re bat flip). Unfortunately with the youth of this team, it might have to be Clark, Meacham or Mills.

Nice road series win against a playoff caliber team! This team's not good, but they're pesky and fun to watch with a lot of potential.

I'm sorry but I dont know of anyone who wouldnt be a little jacked for a 465 ft bomb.

I thought about that a couple weeks ago. I remember Morgan Ensberg telling a story about him hitting a homer his rookie year and he acted like Maxwell does every time he hits one. Ensberg said after the game Bagwell told him that this is the major leagues, and to not do it anymore.

He does that stupid **** every time he hits a hr.

He's 28 years old. He is what he is and I'll take what he brings to the table. He's a solid 4th OF. It's the same thing as Valverde doing that dancing **** when he saves a game or zambrano

Not saying I completely disagree with you Bond, but using dewshbags like Valverde and Zambrano may not be the best examples to argue your point.

With that being said, I do think that Maxwell should tone it down a bit with the bat flips and the staring down the ball as you slowly walk towards 1st base stuff.

Maxwell can do whatever he wants, but he'll continue to get plunked like he did against the Cardinals. Did anyone have a problem with Sammy Sosa's hop every time he hit one? I will say that most of Maxwell's extra celebratory acts have come on some major bombs. If he has no problem wearing one later it the game or series, then I guess he'll keep doing it. I'm sure someone had a talk with him after the Cardinals game, but do you bench him if he keeps doing it?

Maxwell got drilled after doing that childish **** a few games ago, but he does the same thing again today, he must not be very smart.

What if a astro player besides Maxwell gets beaned and injured in retaliation to Maxwells behavior? It's just dumb and unnecessary, I hope somebody teaches him that.

Sosa is a good example. I always wondered why he never caught flack for that. I do remember him hopping a few times and only making it to the warning track
Longhorn Nation

Sosa is a horrible example. One guy has 600+ HRs, the other had a dozen a week ago.

This falls under: Baseball ---> Unspoken Rules ---> Don't show up your opponent

Sosa's hop was all him and had nothing to do with the opponent. Maxwell's is a bit more demonstrative and (just as importantly) he hasn't earn the right yet. And it won't be Maxwell that gets plunked, but someone else.

One guy juiced and used cork bats. One didn't.

It looks like this is going to the the second straight year without a 20 homer guy. That is horrific playing 81 games with the Crawford Boxes in left.

Lowrie already has 12 HR; he should be able to get to 25. Speaking of that, when is the last time the stros had a 20 HR SS? Never?

Oh you want a power hitting shortstop? Ok, we'll just send over 4 minor leaguers to Baltimore in a trade for a washed up Miguel Tejada. /Drayton

We are so incredibly thin at catcher that something had to be done. Bond is right - Ruggiano wasn't going to play for us. Hopefully this young catcher prospect pans out, but this is a risky move that has potential to pay dividends in the future. We're not in any position to be able to turn down trades like this
TREX01
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Ruggiano has had 19 at bats. He is a career .240 hitter who k's on average 25% of the time. 19 more at bats will probably see his numbers dip. Also, he is 30 and the Astros don't have a spot for that.

Trading away a 30 year old non-prospect for a young guy who has the slight potential to be an every day big leaguer is exactly the kind of moves this team should be making. It's also a good move for Ruggiano since he has a spot on a major league roster now.

I still like the trade for the two reasons stated above. Catching depth is something we desperately need. As long as I never have to see carlos corporan in uniform again ill be happy
